My answer to the question: Will we know each other in Heaven?
Will we know one another in heaven? If so, will we know each other as we do now, will we have the same love for others, will our relationships change or be the same?
We will know so much more than we do now! Read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18[/b], when He says "śsleep"ť here He is referring to the dead. Notice they will be with Him when He returns. So, they must still be alive (spiritually), they must still be who they were, and they must still be recognizable! Then He tells us to comfort one another with these words. It wouldn"™t be very comforting for you to tell me that my Mom wouldn"™t even know who I was in heaven, would it!!!? Now let"™s read 1st John 3:2[/b], we will be like Him, remember He is a spirit (John 4:24). But it also says that "śit hasn"™t yet been revealed, what we shall be."ť This lets us know that at some time it will be revealed. But right now all we can do is study the scriptures to get a glimpse of God"™s plan. In Luke 16:19-31[/b], we can easily understand that the rich man recognized Lazarus. That he was himself and so was Lazarus! The rich man also remembered his family and was concerned for them! He knew their fate would be the same as his if they didn"™t change!
Remember, death is not the opposite of life. Death is the absence of life. Like darkness is the absence of light. In James 2:26, we read how "śthe body without the spirit is dead."ť The person still lives! They just don"™t live in that body. Our bodies are like a dwelling place for us until we leave them behind for a better dwelling place! You are much more than your body; you are a spirit that will live forever! In Matthew 22:30-32[/b], Jesus is answering a question from the Sadducees. In verses 31 & 32, He reminds them that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living "“ then He mentions three men who were certainly dead by this time. But in saying this He affirms that they are still alive!
Everyone will still be the same people, everyone will still have the memories, everyone will still be in the same relationship with God (saved or lost). But some relationships will change slightly, read verse 30, in Matthew 22. Marriage will change. Remember marriage ends at death, (1 Corinthians 7:39). But that doesn"™t mean the rest of the scriptures don"™t apply to married couples, they still will know one another, they still will love one another, they will share memories of their lives together. The thing that changes is the physical aspect of marriage. That is the one change that we all will experience. So, yes we will know one another in heaven, yes we will know each other as we do now, yes we will have the same love "“ even more love! And our relationships will improve from physical & spiritual, to relationships totally spiritual, in the presence of God Almighty!
RE: My answer to the question: Will we know each other in Heaven?
Maybe so.
I often think that it will be so AWSOME (in the truest sence of the word) to be with GOD that the love we have for people on earth will seem much less sgnificant. Our "relationship" with GOD will fill us up and there will be no need or desire for"relationships" with people.
