A Mined for studying Gods Word

I have to give a commentary on 1 John 1:5-.through the end of chapter 2. For the mensBible study I'm in at church,,,, I don't really like to talk in-front of peoplebut I can trudge through it... If I could just get started[:@]Last week, studing seem to be effortless,,,BUT now for some reason the words and thoughts just are'nt coming..I've been staring at these verses and some other material I have for about two hour's now..and all I have writen down is ,,,,Walking in the Light,,,,.Any thoughts for getting focused?????????

Walking in the Light

OH MY GOODNESS!! YES!! 1 John will preach brother.
4And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

These things...what things..the things spoken by John ...God's Word were written that WE might have joy. The gospel is good news brother.
5This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
What message?? the message John heard first hand from The Word that beame flesh and dwelt among us. ..this message..That God is light and IN HIM is NO darkness at all. John is telling these Christians that are supposed to be in Christ..hey we are supposed to be in Christ ..right?? If we have darkness in us we need to double check ourselves because we just read IN HIM is NO darkness at all.
1 John my friend was written to folks who have heard some gnostic teaching that preaches Christ did not really come into the flesh because flesh is sin and how could God come in the flesh, YOu will pick up on that later in the book.
6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: Serious stern admonition to all of us...this shakes me. It says black and white that we are to have no darkness in us. If we call ourselves Christians and live after the world we are liars.
7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
BUT thanks be to God for that BUT if we walk in the light 2 things happen.
1. We have fellowship ..so that shows you sin not only separates us from God but from one another
2. AND the BLOOD of Christ cleanses us from ALL unrighteousness....not almost but all sin

John procedes in the followin gchapters to tell us how to walk in that light.It's real simple..love God and one another. he says 32 times I beleive by this YE KNOW that ye have life.

Chuck thanks so much for the reply,,it did get me jump started,,I'm alittle hung up on verses2:12-14 are the children the young christians,,fathers the elders, young men ???/ or is this referring to christian spiritual maturity,,,or just their age?

I really wasn't sure myself. I checked out a few different commentaries. They all agree that they are 3 different levels of Christians.
