Default Let's Hurry Up and Sin

Let"s Hurry Up and Sin.

I went to Walmart this morning to buy some rope to make a prussic knot for my extra. safety harness. While walking around I noticed they had an 870 Mossberg Turkey gun for only 289.00. I ask ot see the gun and if it shot 3 ½ magnum. There was no markings on the gun so he paged the assistant manager to bring a new one up front with a box so we could look at the specifications.

Meanwhile the Holy Spirit spoke softly to me saying to be wise"your present shotgun already patterns good at 30 yards. Don";t waste your money. Be wise. So I said, " Sir, please cancel the gun." I"ve already got one that shoots very well.

Then I went to the store and saw 2 beef tenderloins for 8.00. I thought ..wow what a deal . I grabbed to packages. I went home to surprise my wife . She looked at me sadly and said . " I only buy food marked down or on sale"and your beef tenderloins are not beef..look again. They are pork tenderloins."

As I was still before the Lord he reminded me why fasting works. It slows you down. I read on line today a very good stewartship tip. "Before you buy that must have thing..sleep on it for 24 hours first. Some of us are much more impalsive than others and the advertising world makes money on us. Let"s not hurry up and sin with our money or our mouth .

Some slow down scriptures..
James 1:19Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Proverbs 19: 2Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

Proverbs 14: 29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Proverbs 21:5The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

A lesson learned,
C7

Lol Chuck, I have been struggling with something similar for a couple of moths now.
My flesh feels that to be truley happy I need to go buy this bow package for 900.00. I have went by the bow shop and looked at it several times now. It seems that everyone that wants a high doller bow has one except me.
Well, . . .it just does'nt seem right to spend that kind of money when 1. I don't know anything really about bows. 2. I don't really know anything about bow hunting. 3. Given all the bows that are out there for much less, why would I want to spend this kind of money? 4. My wife just bought me a bow, and it should be fine enough to cut my teeth on.
When it comes down to it, the only reason I really want this bow is because it is a high dollar bow.

I thought I was the only one that procrastinated about buying. I have been struggling with buying some new waders for duck hunting for over a month. I finally got some new ones last week, and you know what? I am really enjoying them. I don't feel like a sinner .

Leaf & Chuck, there's a verse somewhere that pertains to this.

Goes something like: "And be content with such things as ye have, for....

Can't remember the rest off my head. [&o]It's in the NT though! [8D]

Hits home with me nearly everyday. Now that hunting season is over, the flesh wants me to spend more $$ on my four wheeler now. Instead of just being content to even have one. [:-][&o]

Amen Leaf,
I got a bow that was probably 175.00 new. It's probably over 20 years old. It shoots coffee cup groups large coffee cups.at 20 yds. I'm fine with that. I've been having a real good day in the Lord brother..I'm learningto restin him and how "Godliness with contentment really is great gain."
Have a great day brother Mac.

1 Timothy 6:6But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition

Lol Rev, I hope I don't see it as I would want that too. I've already turned a cheap bow into something expensive with all the doodaws I've put on it.

Billy, it looks like we have the same wheeler except I have the racks on mine . . . .I'm also coveting some bigger wheels.
