i have no problem with them attending our worship service, but i think taking any kind of "teaching" role would be out of the question, just as the practicing

Most churches today use these guide lines for those holding any kind of office or leadership position. How could some one gay meet these requirements?

IN My Temple to begin with , if they come as a gay couple they will not be welcome, Homosexuality is an abomination to the God Of Israel.
If they come seeking forgiveness and restitution back to natural habits then they will be welcome.
No ifs or buts about it.

If you let them teach Sunday school it would be the same as letting any unreptant sinner teach it wouldn't it? Proably not a good idea or good example for the kids.

Do you folks shun those that have been divorced for a reason other then the wife sleeping around on their husband. Isn't that the only reason according to the bible that you can divorce and not committ adultery?

Why is the divorce rate as high as it is among Christians? it is as high if not higher then that of unbelievers?

NO way. Niether would we allow a known liar, adulterer, or any other sinner who refuses to repent. To be a teacher one must meet the requirments set up by our eldership. There is a questionaire and if there is any problems with any answers then the elders would meet with the individual and teach them the way of God more perfectly.

The only divorced person I "shun" is my aunt's former husband. He committed adultery and left their family without any support. My reasons for staying away from him are more personal than spiritual. Although at the time that it all happened my dad did go to him and try to get him to obey the Bible and come home and be faithful. But he refused.

And yes the only reason for a marriage to end besides death is if one spouse is sexually unfaithful. If the divorce is for any other reason then they may not remarry. Andif either of the two marry another thenthey are commiting adultery in their new marriage. And causing the new spouse to commit adultery. It is very plain and clear in Matthew 19:9 - "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery."�

Absolutely not!! However; I know of 3 converted gays. They are some of the most devoted Christians I've ever met. I will post one. He was my best man at my wedding. When I last seen David he was a missionary. I went fishing with David once. While I was casting for bass...he literally had other fishermen excepting Christ. I know he must have witnessed to over 50 folks that day. he is a walking Bible / vegetarian. So please don't rule them out. Also while at the white house I was influential in leading a gay to Christ. Here's David...a walking straight,no fooling, no fear Bible quoting lover of Yeshua. The soldier is me in my HOnor Guard White House uniform. My jaw is swollen because I just had 4 wisdom teeth pulled. David is one of my top 3 most serious Christians I've ever met. My top 1 is the black lady I post...Mrs. Wesley. They have 2 totally different styles. David is a no fear Mr. King James get right to business man.Mrs; Wesley ..she knows all about those secret sins ..and in love she will pray you through. She is very close to God.
