The other I am driving down the road I was thinking. One day we are all going to leave this place. There are so many things that we do on this earth each day that are sinful. We all want to go to heaven. What got me scared was the fact some people probably go to hell. Living the enternal life in hell. Its a scary thing but there we sin every day. I believe Jesus died for me and I try and do whats right. We are human and sinning its basically human nature.

It's a sad fact that MOST people will go to hell. Fear of hell is a good reason to live a Christian life. But the better reason to live for Christ is the joy that will be in heaven! No one has to go to hell, they choose that destiny. God does not want anyone to go there, but still the Bible teaches that more will go there than will go to heaven.
Matthew 7:13 - "œEnter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it."
Matthew 7:21-23 - "œNot everyone who says to Me, "˜Lord, Lord,"™ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, "˜Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"™ 23 And then I will declare to them, "˜I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"

Live Life in such a way that those who do not know Christ will come to know Him because they know you
For me Fred,
As a youngster I wanted to get saved to miss Hell. The truth of the matter was.I wasn;t..saved. I was misled believing that the "Sinners prayer "and baptism was going to save me.
Later on though I really did get saved. My biggest reason now is because this world is unfair. It's mean , it;s too hard and slow, plain looking, skinny guys have a hard time functioning in this place. Jesus is my best friend. He is my reason for getting up.He makes me wiser than my foes. He is my confidence and supplier of all my needs. So, I'm getting Heaven twice..here and later.
If you are scared, maybe you should be . . .I don't know you so I can't say.
Could be that your path away from God has or will bring it's consequences.. "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). The Bible compares sin to a cruel slave master. There is no mercy in suffering, no freedom from bondage, no lasting joy, no hope for the future. Most frightening is the final consequence of sin. The Bible warns that without God"™s salvation, death is the doorway to eternal punishment (Hebrews 9:27).
It is from this that one needs to be saved. From our own sin. From its bondage. From its consequences. "How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?" (Hebrews 2:3).
Chuck, not to stir up animosity, but to me "a sinners prayer" is simply the act of confessing and asking forgiveness. Of course baptism according to the Bible is at least a command in relation to one who has accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. Are you saying that this responce to the call of God in our lives is not a salvation experiance?
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
I guess what I'm asking you to clarify is if when you confessed and were baptized, Christ did'nt accept you, how did you finally gain salvation?
As a young man hell only seemed an abstract thing to me and not a thing I would need to worry about then. Afear of hell was'nt a motivating factor for me although I see in Scripture that the fear of hell is used to inform and persuade the lost. For me tho, what touched me the most as a sinner is that while I was yet to be in my sins Christ suffered and died for me and the whole world. He forknew me and had me in mind as He suffered and died.

Chuck, not to stir up animosity, but to me "a sinners prayer" is simply the act of confessing and asking forgiveness. I know your sincere brother. I sense it in your post ..fact I prayed for you this morning,..it took no effeort at all. Somehow God put you on my heart with all my other loved ones.

I repent in making that statement my friend. You are absolutely correct. And whose to say I really wasn't saved...athough I never got a breakthrough till 3 years later. Right after I was baptized and confessed Christ publically I did ok for 2 weeks, Then..I was tempted and partied. Tha tparticuliar church said"I knew he wasn't sincere." I was so ashamed I never went back to church. Then when I was in rock bottom 3 years later..the spot light came on. I understood ..and my life has been changed for good.
Here is what really got me thinking is something chuck pointed out to me.
Galations 5: 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
I am sure some us have great battles to fight and fall under alot of these.
Now I had to look up a few of those words wasnt sure what they really meant. There are few that I have a bit of problems with or dont really understand. I am not going to share what ones I really have a problem with. I do have questions about a few.
Uncleanness- what is really uncleanness? It can vary greatly from person to person.
Variance- doesnt that have to do with math?
emulations- looked it up i still have no idea?
seditions- i looked it up still have no idea?
heresies- ???
drunkness- we have talked about this before what is it?
revellings- now i will admit i do fall under this. basically it means having taking great pleasure or delight. Okay what about praiseing to GODit can be delightful? what about hunting I am sure alot of us take great pleasure in hunting.

Fred , we can do this two different ways. I could reach down by my computer and pick up my Strong's Concordance or ...look up these same verses in another version and read where somone else has already looked them up for me. The above version was the King James. Here is another version..
The Living Bible Version
19 The things your sinful old self wants to do are: sex sins, sinful desires, wild living, 20 worshiping false gods, witchcraft, hating, fighting, being jealous, being angry, arguing, dividing into little groups and thinking the other groups are wrong, false teaching, 21 wanting something someone else has, killing other people, using strong drink, wild parties, and all things like these. I told you before and I am telling you again that those who do these things will have no place in the holy nation of God.
