Default Help?

Hey everyone! I am an avid bowhunter, 15 years old, and I was wondering if anyone could help me with something. I have been a deeply religious person for ever and am deeply involved with the church. I have been confirmed and have been wanting to extend my faith by reading the Bible. Yeah, through Sunday school and such I know numerous tories, but I want to really read it deeply, hopefully by this time next year. Do any of you have suggestions on how to read it? What I mean by this is that I don't really know where to start, or what would make the most sense. Which way do ya'll think is the best? What has worked for you?

I'm reading my through right now. 4 chapters a day will get you through the entire Bible in one year.

If you are only reading the New Testament there are 260 chapters in that and that would be less than one chapter a day. I read mine in 26 days once. 10 chapters a day. WOW! God blessed my socks off on tha tfinal week.I got saved.

I would suggest you read the New Testament first...4 chapters a day..and then the Old. Testament. If you want a good Bible to read online here is one.

There are many different versions to choose from.and..when you've read a chapter it is highlighted in red so you can keep track.

Here's the newest plan I've heard of. I'm sure it's not "new" but new to me. It's a little confusing at first but if you read on down the page there's an explanation for it. Basically you divide the Bible into 3, 4, or 5 groups (like Old Testament, New Testament, Proverbs-Song of Songs. Or OT,NT,Provervs-SOS, Job-Psalms. Or OT, NT, Proverbs-SOS, Gospels, Epistles of Paul.) Pretty much any way you want to divide it. Then count see how many pages are in each of your "sections" and divide by 30 to read through it in a month, 60 to read through it in 2 months, or 365 to read through it in a year.

I KNOW that sound complicated, but its not. The beauty of this is that YOU decide how to break it up and how fast you read through it.

Here's the link with the discussion below. I'd encourage you to wonder around the entire site from time to time. All types of good stuff on there.

I'll say one thing for sure. I got up a little too early in preparing for my last deer / hog hunt. I read a few chapters from Geneisis and the Word really does build your faith. Man I am pumped from reading about Issac , Jacob and Abraham. I lovest thou Word.

Psalm 119:15 I will study your commandments
and reflect on your ways.
16 I will delight in your decrees
and not forget your word.

18 Open my eyes to see
the wonderful truths in your instructions.
27 Help me understand the meaning of your commandments,
and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.

34 Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions;
I will put them into practice with all my heart.
35 Make me walk along the path of your commands,
for that is where my happiness is found.
36 Give me an eagerness for your laws
rather than a love for money!
37 Turn my eyes from worthless things,
and give me life through your word.[b]45 I will walk in freedom,
for I have devoted myself to your commandments.

72 Your instructions are more valuable to me
than millions in gold and silver.

89 Your eternal word, O Lord,
stands firm in heaven.
90 Your faithfulness extends to every generation,
as enduring as the earth you created.97 Oh, how I love your instructions!
I think about them all day long.
98 Your commands make me wiser than my enemies,
for they are my constant guide.
99 Yes, I have more insight than my teachers,
for I am always thinking of your laws.
100 I am even wiser than my elders,
for I have kept your commandments.
101 I have refused to walk on any evil path,
so that I may remain obedient to your word.
103 How sweet your words taste to me;
they are sweeter than honey.
104 Your commandments give me understanding;
no wonder I hate every false way of life.
Nun
105 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.
114 You are my refuge and my shield;
your word is my source of hope.
115 Get out of my life, you evil-minded people,
for I intend to obey the commands of my God.

133 Guide my steps by your word,
so I will not be overcome by evil.
162 I rejoice in your word
like one who discovers a great treasure.
165 Those who love your instructions have great peace
and do not stumble.
172 Let my tongue sing about your word,
for all your commands are right.

In addition to what's already been listed, you could pick up a copy of Our Daily Bread. It's a very simple daily devotional guide that is widely available free. In addition to a short daily devotion, there's a guide you can use to read through the Bible in a year. Another good devtional guide that is aslo free, but a little more in depth is Acts & Facts. It is available at www.icr.org. I carry both of these along with my small pocket Bible while I'm hunting. It's a good way to spend time with God while enjoying my favorite pastime.

I personally don't get care for devotions (not knocking them, I just don't "get much out" of 'em). Having said that, I would also recommend you give Our Daily Bread a try. It's free, it IS NOT a replacement for reading the Bible, and it's very well put together. Of all the 'devotionals' I tried it would probably be my top pick along with Morning and Evening. Give it try, the big thing is that you don't give up. So you miss a day....a week[&:]....get up, brush yourself off, turn your heart towards God, and go again!!!!
