Default praying/whats best

God listens to all our prayers. He may not answer them or it isnt the time for something to happen. Some examples praying to meet a girl, praying to get a job, praying to know if you should go after a girl, praying for someones health. How do you whats best for you? How do you know you are making the right choices?

Fred,
I love these simplistic post of yours. I really do. Fred there is a simple answer to everyone of your cares in God's Word and in one verse.

1 Peter 5:6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Thanks chuck yeah I know everything will happen in due time. I question alot of things in life why I havent gotten a few things in my life thats I want. On the other hand I should be thankful for what I have. I am human we arent really ever truely happy.

Deerhunter, I just want to encourage in saying that alot of time "what we want" isn't best for us. Even if there's nothing wrong/bad/evil with our wants. As long as we're on his side he watches out for us. Doesn't make sense to us, but its for our best.

Fred

I do to Fred. For me..I think some of that could be from the heresy prosperity doctrine that is prevalent in our country. I know I've heard way too much of that kind of preaching and it is not of God. It's a very self -centered doctrine. The Word in Timothy says."If ANYONE preaches that the gospel is a way to get gain have nothing to do with them."

Rather he says."Godliness with contentment is much gain."

On the other hand...your desires and cares are very real to God. my wife and I cast our cares to God everyday. I desire peace in my classroom , peace among co workers, And to be honest with you I've prayed to get a deer or a hog this year. I had one opportuity for both and both times I was unprepared, Then, I ask God to make me a better hunter. Well, last week I scouted out what I believe is a very good spot. I'll be in the tree in 3 1/2 hours LOL We will see. But in the past ,when I walk out of the woods bare handed my brother ..God has also reminded me of a verse from Habakuk.

Habakuk..3: 17 Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!

PS Fred , I almost forgot. God did hear my venison request. On Christmas , Strut sent me a cooler full of venison through UPS. 60 pounds . The Lord reminded me of that. My prayer was answered.
