10And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
13But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.
14And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.
15And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed. Acts 17:10-15 KJV.
So many today, and i include Christians, are concerned that the Word and God will not stand up to the test, but this is nothing that we should be concerned about. we are the ones who will not stand the test of time. Paul went into Berea and preached the Word and the men went into Scripture to see if what he was sharing was right. The Word will ALWAYS standup to what ever comes it's way. you see here in verse 11, Paul is preaching and they are willing to listen with open minds..when they heard the preaching they searched the scriptures to see if it was true..that;s what we must do, listen but we need to look into God's word, more so on forums like this than any other place.. when i was a young lad, and i was young once, i would read the bible but wasn't learning much..then i learned to search the scriptures and meditate on them and boy what a difference it made..the best thing a believer can do is to compar what the preacher is preaching to what God says..oh yes, pray for the Sweet Holy Spirit to give you understanding.. Men throughout history have sought to discredit the Word, but when what is there is Truth, it will be stand on it's own. CS Lewis set out to disprove the Bible and all that it stood for. Yet the more he studied and looked into the Word, it became more and more apparent, that the man, Jesus, was exactly who He said He was: God! From that come some of the most challenging and loving books that show us the Love of God and that God will direct our steps in all things. Paul was not concerned and CS Lewis followed that same path. For you and I, we must meet God and allow the Spirit of God to work in our lives. If we do, then our world will never be the same. Allow His peace to be with you each!
have a good rest of the week and have a great week-end.and please, tell someone about Jesus![/align]

Very good post Bro Motor; The part I like best is the phrase, "with open minds". I find that as I age in years, it is harder that ever to resist gettin set in "my ways", and to keep an open mind. We cannot prevent ageing and becoming old, but we can prevent becoming "set in our ways".
