I am having a difficult time in my life, I have had serious thoughts of comitting suicide and have even taken the steps to do so, but have not yet. I have a wife and a 17 month old daughter I love very much. I am not really religious and have a hard time believing in God. I want to believe, I just need some help. I know if he is real like most everyone says, he can help me. I am not sure how to pray but I have been trying. Since most of you guys are probably closer to God than I am maybe you could say a quick prayer for me. I really need it. I am sorry to through my problems out like this, I just want to know God and live my life through him. Thank You
I'll pray for you Ash. You do'nt have to be all alone in what your going thru. Harming yourself is not the answer. Seek out someone that you can speak to confidential. Ask the Lord to lead you to someone that you can talk with. But reach out to someone. Feel free to PM me.
I know life gets tough sometimes . . .I think it does for all of us. But give it to the Lord and seek His direction. Things will change.

You need to hear that people do get through this -- even people who feel as badly as you are feeling now. Statistically, there is a very good chance that you are going to live. I hope that this information gives you some sense of hope.
Give yourself some distance. Say to yourself, "I will wait 24 hours before I do anything." Or a week. Remember that feelings and actions are two different things - just because you feel like killing yourself, doesn"t mean that you have to actually do it right this minute. Put some distance between your suicidal feelings and suicidal action. Even if it"s just 24 hours. You have already done it for 5 minutes, just by reading this page. You can do it for another 5 minutes by continuing to read this page. Keep going, and realize that while you still feel suicidal, you are not, at this moment, acting on it. That is very encouraging to me, and I hope it is to you.
People often turn to suicide because they are seeking relief from pain. Remember that relief is a feeling. And you have to be alive to feel it. You will not feel the relief you so desperately seek, if you are dead.
Some people will react badly to your suicidal feelings, either because they are frightened, or angry; they may actually increase your pain instead of helping you, despite their intentions, by saying or doing thoughtless things. You have to understand that their bad reactions are about their fears, not about you.
But there are people out there who can be with you in this horrible time, and will not judge you, or argue with you, or send you to a hospital, or try to talk you out of how badly you feel. They will simply care for you. Find one of them. Now. Use your 24 hours, or your week, and tell someone what"s going on with you. It is okay to ask for help. Try:

Hey bud, PM me if you need to talk anytime, and I can even call you. I know exactly where you are at. God saved me right in Morgantown at the intersection of 79 and 68. I have never had those thoughts since then.
Thanks for the prayers. The thoughts of suicide come and go. Here lately, except for the last couple days, I would think about it at least once a day. I know I should not think like that but sometimes it seems like a way out. I have talked to people and have gotten medication for my depression and it really helps, but I also want to start living a better life, I want to get to know God. Like I said I have started praying but not sure if he hears it since I am not religious or since I have had doubts about his existence. Thanks again every post is very meaningful and helpfu.
Please call a church. Ask for the minister. After you get him on the line either pour out your heart or go meet him and talk. A minister of God WILL help you. Please just reach out to one. I'll pray that you find God's love and get through this hard time.
