Default Sunday's sermonette

Well here we are on the verge of another year.I wonder what it has in store for us, will it be a free from sickness, will it be a prosperous year or will it be another year of turmoil and strife? only God knows but i think back in the book of Deuteronomy where Moses was talking to the Israelites as they were leaving Egypt, he is giving some good advice that will help us in 2007..
Father i thank you that you have given us another year to enjoy the wonderful blessings you have given your people and Lord i pray that 2007 will be a year that you will be glorified and many will turn from their wicked ways and come to know you as their Lord and Saviour..in Jesus name and for his sake i pray, Amen..

8Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
9And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
10For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
11But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
12A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
13And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
14That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
15And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
16Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
17And then the LORD's wrath be kindled against you,and he shut up the heaven,that there be no rain,and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.Deut.11:8-17
as you can see in verse 8, He tells us if we are to possess our lands, we must be strong and that means to obey his commandments..our land here could be a new job, a marriage, starting a business or anything we set out to do..we need to keep God first and foremost in all we do..Moses is warning them here that there are going to be wars and hard times before they succeed and my friends we too will go through these times of discougagement and sorrows but remember Jesus said,"I will never leave you nor forsake you". what a wonderful promise.. you know sin tends to shorten the days of some peope and to shorten their prosperity but by obeying God we can lengthen our days here on earth..Egypt was a dry country, hardly any water there which made it hard to grow crops.. they had to dig ditches to water their crops and that was hard, dirty time, consuming work.. you know sometimes that's how our lives become, dry, hard and sometimes unbearable..but as Moses told the Israelites, there is a better land in the offering, it is a land of milk and honey, a land of hills and valleys with plenty of rain..oh what a sweet land it is when you love the Lord and obey his commandments..and then verse 12, what a wonderful promise," land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year."
yes He is always looking down on us, making sure we are doing alright and yes making sure we are obeying him..his eyes are always on us from the beginning to the end of the year..and if we serve him and love him with all our heart and soul, He will rain down the blessings and supply all our needs..but then He warns us that if we turn aside from him his wrath will be upon us and the blessings will cease..As Joshua said.."ASfor me and my house, we will serve the Lord..
Father we thank you for the promises of good things in our life if we would just obey you ..Father maybe there is someone here today that don't know you as Lord and Saviour and are going through a dry spell in their life.. if so it is my prayer that they will repent and ask forgiveness of their sins and ask you to save them ..that is our prayer in jesus name amen..
Egypt was once my home, I was a slave.
Helpless in sin did roam, love light did crave,
But when I looked up to Heaven's dome, Christ came to save,
I'm livin' in Canaan now.
Chorus
Livin' on Canaan's side, Egypt behind
Crossed over Jordan wide, gladness to find.
My soul is satisfied, no longer blind,
Livin' with Jesus up in Canaan right now.
Down in the low lands drear, burdened with sin,
My soul was filled with fear, darkness with-in,
But Christ the Savior to me drew near,
My heart to win.
Chorus
.
Satan may have you bound with fetters strong.
Look up to higher ground, twill not be long,
Till Christ the Saviour your soul has found,
You'll sing this song.
