Default Does everybody have questions?

This really is a serious post, and not meant to be as stupid as it may sound.

I am a Christian. I have been in church since I was a kid.My parents did not go , but my 3 sisters and I did. I was baptised around9 years old. I was baptised again at the age of 41, when I felt the callingof the Lord on my heart, to do it againwhen I was old enough to know what it all meant. I really, truely found the Lord at the age of 36 when my ( then ) wife told me she was filing for devorce. I lost my the children, as well as the woman I loved. * I can honestly say that the only thing that kept me alive was the Lord. * The only things I did was keep my face in the Bible, and go to church every time the door was unlocked. Now, since that time, I have found a wonderfully alive in the Holy Spirit Church, with a Pastor whom I respect very much. He teaches the Bible.... with the Good , the Bad, and everything in between.

Now, with all that said, I still find myself questioning things. Kind of like Chuck7 did with his post about Genesis. But other things too. Like trying to separate fact from fiction and find something solid to hold on to. Or to find something to prove out, what I believe from the Bible. To prove beyond any doubt that Jesus Christ is Lord, and is Gods Son. So that no one can dispute it. Things like that.

Is that natural for a believer? Am I missing something with my questioning, or am I for some reason possibly doubting my own faith ? I mean , if none of you ever queation, then where might I have gone wrong ?

Thank You for your replys.

God Bless

Michael

When one becomes as a little child, he will ask questions because he knows he doesn't have the knowledge of his Father. IMO that is normal of any child. However if one questions God demanding an explanation or reason for any thing or action, one is in danger. The Father doesn't answer to a child.
IMO the manner of the questioning and the attitude in which the question is asked makes all the difference.

Are you doubting or is the devil questioning your faith. We all go through times in our life where we question many things. We've all be taught that if it sound to good to be true, then it is.. But not with God's word.

We don't know exactly what your are facing. Is it that your wondering if every detail in the Bible is can be proven? Some thingsbrother, we have to accept by faith. Read Heb 11th chapter.

God gave us free will and intellect. We should always question. If we believe our way is the one true way then we should never fear our beliefs may not hold up to scrutiny.

Michael,
I don't think there is anything wrong with asking questions. God knows your heart and most of teh time will answer your questions,

Example..I remember reading through the Bible once and I found myself asking this question. Why would God have Israel go into the promice land and kill every thing in that country. I didn't verbalize it but he can read our minds.Well, I'd forgotten I'd ask the question and about a week later as I was going through Chronicles the answer bounced of the page..because the place was filled with demons "For there was a demon behind every idol." Mike..I had a very clear vision of the Lord Jesus Christ in Oct. of 1976 so I can never doubt the existance of God. What I do doubt at times is God's love for me...and this is why I enjolyed talking with Bill on the phone. From the second I picked up the reciever ,Bill told me how much God loved me. Normally we Christains talk about what we are working on in our lives but when someone continues to tell you how much God loves you that really does something to you...and it was what I needed. Normally we focus on our short comings. I'll tell ya what Michael, God loves you too. No man can come to Christ unless he is drawn by God. There is no one perfect..Psalm says "Even in our best state we walk in vanity"..Ephesians 2 says even when you were dead in your trespasses Christ died for you. You are loved my friend and if God be for you..who can be against you "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels , nor principlaies nor any other thing shall separate you from the love of God. Have a great day!

I have not only questioned God on things but have questioned the existance of God as well. It is a very discouraging place to be in. Satan knows this and so he will continue to throw things in your face to keep that doubt fresh in your mind.

The one thing that I love about the Lord is this. Yes, He wants us to do all things in Faith, but He has also left us enough evidence to His existance to where we can stand firm on His existance. There was a time when men said that the Bible was nothing more than a fairy tale because there were virtually no Biblical places found and therefore must be false. But as the years go by, that theory has been debunked. Over and over again Biblical cities have been found, references to Biblical figures inscribed on walls, evidence everywhere.

Sometimes the one thing I do is sit back and just open my eyes and look around. I mean REALLY look around and I just can't reconcile to anything that this earth is merely chance and was formed somehow in some bang.

The Bible tells us that we can boldly approach the throne. If we are saved, we are His children. And just like you want your own children to approach you and ask you anything, God wants us to be able to approach Him as well.

The bottom line of it all is this: As long as you are in doubt, you can't grow in your relationship with God. How can you have a relationship with someone that you dont' believe exists? Therefore as long as Satan can keep you doubting, he has you right where he wants you. So while it's certainly human to be in this posistion throughout your spiritual walk, you must seek the Lord as often as you can and you will come through it through the power of God.

There is a really good couple of books that you might want to check out. They are written by a former atheist who is now a Christian. His name is Lee Strobel.

The books are: A case for Christ, andA case for a Creator.

The others have given some great answers, I'll just say that yes I have had doubts and I am sure everyone has them from time to time. I'd encourage you to read the Bible. And really listen to the things that God is saying. Faith comes by hearing the Word, so listen to the Word and your faith will grow!
