RE: How are we supposed to deal with negative feelings.
It all depends on how we cope with our problem. Counselors offices are full and people are waiting to get an appointment. Adversity affects us all in very different ways. When my wife was dying of cancer, she still found the time to laugh, and enjoy her family.
To get out our dumps we need only to look around and see how bad others have it. Then we realize how blessed we really are.
This is going to sound crazy, but one of the happiest I ever have been was in Viet Nam. I had just got saved. In the midst of blood, death, and turmoil I had the perfect peace.
"œ I felt bad because I had no shoes, until I met a man that had no feet."
RE: How are we supposed to deal with negative feelings.
You both have wonderful answers...
1. I see Bill's answer in Acts 16 in a dark dungeon where Paul and Silas who did nothing wrong was put in stocks..like Bill said..They praised God despite thier circumstances and great and marvelous things happened.
2. And yes as Rev pointed out..the super natural peace that passes all understanding can come undeserving and even unprayed for..simply a measure of God's grace . I remember going through some very rough times asnd that peace Rev is talking about is just there.
Neverthe less; those darn feelings are very real. I got still befor eth eLord this morning and said Lord..how can I please you when I get those Satanic attacks..Like Bill said my mind immediately went to ..
A. The 3 Hebrew children in the fiery furnace.
B. Paul and Silas singing those praises.
Thanks Guys
RE: How are we supposed to deal with negative feelings.
Perfect love casteth out fear.
The same scripture says that "he that feareth hath not been made perfect in love".
If God be for us, who can be against us?
I will never leave you, nor forsake you. I will go with you, even unto the end of the world.
Simply cast all your cares upon him for he careth for you.
1. you have been diagnosed with cancer
Are we ready to meet God? Then why are we terrified at the word, "cancer". Can cancer seperate us from our God? The doctor had just taken my blood pressure before telling me that there was a growth on the prostate and was likely cancer. After a couple minutes he took my blood pressure again and it was only up 3 points. I guess he expected me to have a breakdown of some kind, but I know in whom I trust. Three years
later, my PSI tests are better now than then.
2. Your son or daughter has been hurt real bad or even death
Never been there, thank God, so I can't say anything except God would still be God. His love, mercy, grace, kindness, ect. would remain the same
3. when someone you trusted in has suddenly for no reason turned on you
If God be for us, Who can be against us? He is still a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
4. possibly guilt from a recent or pass sin.
We know who the accuser of the brethern is. God is faithful to forgive us when we trust in "our" advocate, Jesus Christ. Resist the devil and he must flee because God has spoken it.

Snooky,
You must have nerves made of steel.
I remember Paul weeping for years over wolves which crept into the fold.
I remember David crying many times ..
Psalms 6: 6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. 7Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
RE: How are we supposed to deal with negative feelings.
This may not be the scriptural type of answer you might have been expecting, but this is what I have found to work for me in troubled times.
I speak out loud, that the Lord is with me and I am His child. I tell Satan that fear ( or what ever emotion like anger or spite or loneliness even) is not of the Lord and for Him and His deamons to leave me, as they have no place in my heart, mind, body or soul.
The next thing I do is to praise the Lord, and read whatever scripture I am lead to.
Then finally, I go out and find someone to bless in some way. I have found true peace in doing for others.
