Gentlemen
Some time back I started a post on "Evolution" and began it like this:
"I thought we might continue discussing this without it detracting from the other thread where it was brought up recently.
First we must deside what we mean by the term.
The dictionary says
a) the developement of spiecies, organism, etc. from its original to its presentstate.(b) a theory that all spiecies of plants and animals developed from earlier forms.....
Nowhere does it say in the dictionary anything about the beginning of the universe or the forming of the earth or the "BEGININGS" OF ANYTHING. So really there is no reason to have a big argument between "Creation" and "Evolution". "
In that thread and in another more recent one there is a big discussion and debate about Creation VS Evolution. I finally had to do some looking and google "what is the theory of evolution" in order to see why ther seemed to be different understandings of what the trem means.
Dave H in a post used the term "microevolution" and I now see that it is perhaps the term I should have been using intead of evolution. It seems my dictionary was wrong and as so often hppens the meaning of the term evolution has changed (or evolved???).
So I googled and got this:
What is the Theory of Evolution?
Common usage of the word "evolution" is the idea that living things in our world have come into being through unguided naturalistic processes starting from a primeval mass of subatomic particles and radiation, over approximately 20 billion years.
A more precise understanding of the above statement divides the "atoms to people" transition into four realms:
[ol][*]
Cosmology is the branch of astronomy which deals with the origin and formation of the general structure of the universe.[*]
Abiogenesis refers to first life - the production of living organisms from inanimate matter.[*]
Micro-evolution or
speciation refers to populational and species change through time. There are many published examples of speciation, if by the development of a new "species" we mean the development of a new population of individuals which will not breed with the original population to produce fertile offspring. Micro-evolution is a scientific fact which no one, including creationists, dispute.[*]
Macro-evolution or
general evolution refers the progression to more complex forms of life. The mechanisms of macro-evolution, including whether or not micro-evolution over a long enough time leads to macro-evolution, can be regarded as a "research topic" (Berra 1990, 12).[/ol]
So to all of you who were using the term "evolution" as a theory that God did not create life, it just happened by chance, I whole heartedly agree with you. I believe that GOD created all things.
However I still believe in "MICROEVOLUTION or SPECIATION". Which means I believe that GOD used the mechanics of mutation and genetic changes and natural selection to achieve HIS goals.
