I searched the web myself...Here's a quote I found .
I guess I was sadly right.[>:][:@]
"There are plenty of plot twists and such to keep you coming for more, I don't want to spoil it. There are also realms to the demonic world of Oblivion that open up. The realm of Oblivion is where all the sinners are sent to be punished. Oblivion is a demonic underworld. "
I checked it out..it's full of the occult. I think his book may have just disappeared. and serious prayerhas begun. I'm sick.[:'(]
I, have played the game before, I know 40 years old and still playing video games. And, there is really nothing in the game, that I interpreted as being, related to satan, or evil, the game is mostly like a fairy tale, set in a world of fantasy. Chuck, if you want specifics, PM me, and I can tell you more about the game.
Oblivion takes place in the land of Tamriel, which is a fictional fantasy world. There are also many characters in the game that use magic and you as a player have the option to learn different spells. Throughout my adventure this is what I discovered and why I choose to grade this section the way I did.
Tamriel has nine gods and a list of guidelines called "The Ten Commands". In one part of the game I found a book called "Manual of Spellcraft" and I learned the art of alchemy, which allowed me to create different types of potions by mixing different ingredients together. I also had to choose a sign to be born under.
Other things include missions that involve fighting spirits and vampires. Also, I read a newsletter that told how to summon someone from the Dark Brotherhood (another name for the Assassins Guild), which described a ritual that sounded very occult in nature (whether or not you can perform this ritual in the game, I did not discover.)
A player can also join the Mage"s guild. I have not yet done this so I do not have much to say other than it involves growing in the art of magic.
Oh yeah, definently different then monopoly, I didn't get too far in the game, so, many of those elements you described, I haven't found out about yet, still, I would rather play a game like Oblvion, then have my son or daughter, exposed to garbage, such as the Grand Theft Auto series. Chuck, have you seen the things that players are allowed to do in GTA?
In the game, players are allowed to have sex with hookers inside of a car, kill people for money, and basically, be a thug, who does nothing but violent crime. I don't know why people even create video game like that.
Why??Because we are in the last hours..not last days. Satan's time is short and he knows it. The temptaions and snares are everywhere..
When I speak of snares I'm not just talking about sin snares. I'm talking about people you rub shoulders with you trying to start arguements or catch you with their words like back in Jesus day. One must truly be walking in the Spirit to overcome these days. The daysof playing church will not keep one. You must be sold out ..totally in love with Jesus and seeking HIs righteousness alone in your life. You must be dead to self and alive in Him.
Why?? is there so much violence and sex..??.because "As it was in the days of Noah, shall it be when the Son of Man comes back." May He find us filled and walking in His Spirit doing His will when He returns.
I've definately had a change of heart over the years. Of course it was the Lord who did the changing.
I used to own the GTA series. I bought it because I had never played them before. Once I bought them I played it simply because of the fun of driving around the city in different cars. I onlytrie one mission in the whole game and that was a mission to murder some pimp with a chainsaw.
Well, as you can see, it just got old really quickly. This game has you killing police officers, killing anyone really, buying drugs, car jacking people and other such stuff. I just couldn't stomach that sort of thing anymore so I just got rid of it. Which is hard for me because I never get rid of games.
I noticed me telling my children to stay in the other room when playing that game and that was a clear indicator that there was something wrong with it.
As far as Oblivion....I played very briefly at a friends house a while ago and it just didn't do anything for me.
I think a person has to use their own judgement on things like this. I have taken the attitude that fantacy is fantacy. I know the difference and it's up to me to teach my children the same.
Some can treat fantacy just as it is....others don't want to be involved with it....no right or wrong...just listen to the Holy Spirit.
I enjoy fantacy games. One of my favorites from the original Xbox was one called Fable. In this game you are in a fantacy world. You learn magic and do other stuff but again, to me, it's just a game.
Anyway, I guess I said all of that to say this. If the Holy Spirit is telling you not to play this game then by all means you should listen and not. But if it is just you wanting to know more about it and being uncomfortablewith it, sit down with your son while he's playing and take a look at what is going on and see for yourself.
Some of those video game and movie review sites go out of their way to paint a very bad picture of something when it isn't in reality. Not saying that is the case here, but it can be.
