Default Hunting Laws and being a Christian.

Im a believer and a follower but not an every Sunday Church kind of person and would like some input on a recent event.

My step brother goes to Church every Sunday and tries to follow the word. He recently made a comment to me asking if it was Turkey season or not, I jokingly(I thought he knew I was joking)said since when does that matter. He said since he has been saved (years now) he doesnt like hunting anything out of season. I was surprised by the comments because Ive never equated mans laws to was is or isnt legal with hunting(or anything else for that matter)to betied with the Bible.Would you guys consider it a sin to shoot an animal out of season you were going to eat?

I dont want this to be a discussion of shooting game out of season, just if in the Christian way of doing thingsits consideredout of the box. Again it was just a joke to begin with but his commentskinda made me think that afternoon sitting in the stand.

Personally I don't think what is killed out of season or not could be considered a sin. Yes of course I agree that not using it would be but just wanted some other opinions on the matter.

And no Im not saying its alright to do legally but purely through a Christian point of view what yals feelings are.

You should obey the law. And you will be a beter person for it. I don't know any scripture to point out, though. In all honesty, It wouldn't be a sin, but you should still obey the law.

Very good question. I believe all animals were given to man for food as stated in Genesis. Then later on in the bible it states that you must follow all laws unless they interfier with God's laws. So I would have to say that it would not be right to shoot an animal out of season. Hope this helps. Good luck. Ethan

Paul had a concern, and rightly so, that Christians be righteous and above reproach. That we maintain a standard high enough that noone could ever use our behavior to impune Christianity. That's a super hard set of standards to uphold, but obeying simple gamelaws is a good start.

Ezra 7:26
[26] And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

The law of the King in today's understanding, means laws in ourCounties, Towns, Cities, State and National Government.

Cheating on your Income Taxes is against one of the 10 Commandments, "Thou Shalt Not Steal". This is against our God and our King(Government).

Taking game out of season or poaching is against God and our Local Laws ( Authorities).

In the same sense then do you think speeding is against god's laws then. I don't think a bunch of 63 in a 55 tickets would keepus from getting threw those gates. (I know its not that simple just trying to bring up another angle)

What if the Local Laws tell us no Christmas trees or no praying in school, I don't think breaking these laws would be against gods laws.

Again I understand poaching is wrong just trying to discuss that fact in the Bible god said it's ok to eat animals but now we can only do it during certaintimes of the year.

I appreciate the replys so far.

Speeding on purposeyou're an outlaw and yes it's against God's Law to disobey your Civil Laws. I have been driving 60yrs and never had a speeding ticket and been involved in one fender bender which wasnot my fault.

Now, I have caught myself going justover the speed limitan immediately reduced my speed to the speed limit. 95% of the time I use the Cruise Control when able to.

You mentioned about Christmas Trees and Praying in Schools, well the day will come whenmany Christians in this countrywill be afraid to admit they are Christians in fear of prosecution by Authorities. Thetime is getting close!

I don't think is a sin ,but rather a bad testimony, we are called the obey the laws of man.

Hbr 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that [is] unprofitable for you. [/align]

Disobeying the laws of the land is a sin. Bottom line. Its clearly documented in Romans. The leaders were ordained by God, whether they obey him or not. And we should listen to it, as long as it does not go against God's command. When you go over the speed limit, when you build a building without a permit on the sly, when you burn mp3's and distribute them, when you copy that favorite movie after getting a warning not too, your sinning. I sin everyday. We should strive however to one day work our way to a point where we try to be spotless. I have so many heavy convicting sins, I am working on, I put the others on the backburner.

But I for one am guilty of sinful thought on game laws. I am in the swamps of MD on goverment property hunting 2 weeks ago for sika. Its a bald eagle refuge, and rules are strickly enforced. It is said, if you kill a snake, you better have a bite on you somewhere. I take a nap in my portable around 1PM and hear a pile of turkeys behind me, I wake up and in the moment, I am seriously considering smacking one with my slug gun at 20 yards with a 11" beard. He sees my orange even though I am like 28' in the tree and takes off. Later, I thought, Mark, what were you thinking? It was a sin even thinking about it.
