Default New American Standard Bible

I'm thinking about buying the NASB. I have been told that word for word it's the closest translation of the Greek to English. If any of you have it . .what do you think of it?

I've heard the same Mac--and I don't think it has any denominational bias swaying the interpretation. Just going on what I've heard--haven't really looked at it hard myself. I have seen obvious bias in the NIV.

From my studying, its supposed to be the closest you can get. I am going to get a parallel bible.

NASB is a very good translation and I know of churches in the area that are using it for just the reasons you mentioned. My wife's Bible is a NASB and I refer to it often. It's very readable and accurate.

I have a NASB Ryrie Study Bible and love it. It is true that it is more accurate because it goes word for word, rather than sentence for sentence which NIV goes(i do beleive)...but i really do like it.
