this morning was not to eventful, i did see a small doe at 27yds to many trees and she was down wind of me ,it did not alarm her that i was there ,she just walked off .didn't stay out to long had some things to do ,picked up a ton and a half of corn for the corn burner ,thats how i stay warm in the winter ,burning corn.at about 3pm i headed for the woods ,found a great place for the morning if the wind is right, but i did not want to hunt there ,it just looked like a morning spot so i moved on to a spot that i had seen deer but never hunted there before. found one tree that i could get my climber up even tho it was to small at the point i climbed up to ,now thats hairy but it was the only tree that was in what i thought was in the right spot .
about 4:30 a doe with a fawn came near but down wind .needless to say they did not stay long .
then at 5:40 i herd a deer coming and it sounded like it was going to come very close . i was quite pleased when i could see that it was a buck. i came to full draw and was about to make it stop ,when i felt my bows bottom cam come against my tree stand .it made a small noises the buck stopped lookup but i had trees between me and him ,so he gave it no concern and started walking to my left . now I'm at full draw facing the tree i'm in and settoshooton the right side of the treeand the deer walks past so now i have got to get to the other side of the tree to make the shot.
then i feel the bottom cam rub the tree stand so i have to backup a littleto keep it from screwing up the the shot . he gets to just the right spot and i ball like a deer ,he stops just long enough tocatch a 26.5 inch 1916 in the lunges . he did not run far ,i seen him go down not 65yds from were i was . he's a 8 point with a 15 inch spread .
i hope the wind is right tomorrow as i really what to try that other spot.
Congrats on the buck! I'm on vacation for hunting the rut, so naturally, we're experiencing a heat wave! [:@] It's been in the 70's and we've got a few more days yet of that. The only deer you see are just before sunrise and after sunset. Last night, I passed on two does and an eight point at 20 minutes after sunset.
Good luck on the next one. And, we need pics!

the second day i was heading up the drive way early in the morning , the care taker seen me so he called me on my cell phone ,he said dont shoot any more bucks ,i was OK with that ,rather have a doe any way. the wind was out of the north so i had to stay on the south side of the woods .so i climbed up a tree that i found in the dark. not long there was a noise that told me there was some thing coming ,a doe with two fawns ,but the doe would only come just so close ,she wanted to go by but she picked me out even tho i was way up there .i could see that she wanted to go by me and she might of, but then there came another deer from behind her , i new what it was even before i got an eye on it ,i could hear it grunt. when it got close to her she got nerves and ended upcircling back the way she had come from but the fawns stayed there. the buck , an 8 point walked 12 yds from the tree i was in . had to let him just walk by.
oh well, i had to keep evey body happy, and there still a lot of time left to hunt
