Gotta tell this story. I went bowhunting a couple weeks ago in the late afternoon and had deciced that if given the opprutunity to shoot a doe I would. I was sitting in a stand at the bottom of a hill where the hardwoods slowly dropped off into a thicket that the deer would frequently bed. About 1 1/2 hours before dark I spotted a doefeeding and slowly coming inmy direction. She gave me a perfect broadside shot so I took it and watched as the arrow went right where it needed to. She ran straight away from me parallel with the hill and just as I lost sight of her she appeared to turn down the hill toward the thicket. A couple seconds later I thought I heard her crash. After waiting a bit I went down and found my arrow stuck in the ground with good sign on it. As I started in the direction she went I was surprised to find absolutely no blood. I zig zagged back and forth but found no blood at all on the ground. I continued in the direction the doe went until I was farther than the crash I knew I heard and saw no sign of her. I went down to the edge of the thicket and started back toward my stand getting down on my hands and knees looking out into the thick brush. When I got back to where my stand was I went out into the thicket about 20 yards and headed back in the direction the doe went. I did this two more times and the whole time I'm asking God for help because I was sure it was a double lung shot and I know I heard her go down. I ended up away from my stand at the bottom of the hill and it was beginning to get dark and I decided to do something I never do. I got on my knees in the middle of the woods, closed my eyes and asked God to help me because I couldn't find her myself. When I stood up the first thing that came into my mind was to search up the hill since I had already covered the thicket below. I hadn't taken two steps when I saw a patch of white toward the top of the hill. I ran up the hill (yeah, I know I shouldn't be running with a bow in hand) and there she was. I looked up and thought wow, that is some fast service. And not only did God help me find her but he also had her run up the hill so I didn't have to drag her up the hill.
So here is what I learned in the woods that afternoon. I talk to God every day but it is always on the go. Sometimes he wants me to drop to my knees and pray like I mean it.
I've shot many deer, but this one and the expierience it brought with it rank right up there with my first deer and even my biggest buck.God is good, even to someone as undeserving as me.
Understand what you mean. I killed a nice 8pt a month ago. Bad shot with the bow. Good blood until it hit the creek. After 3 hours of searching for something. I was exhausted and gave up. I told my buddy, lets go, thats it. I sat and prayed and told God, I put this in your hands. If I don't find it, it wasn't your will, if I do, its your will, my life is in his hands, and he has control of all things. I heard a hawk 200-300 yards downstream. Something told me, go downstream. I did, remembering a buck I shot last year went down there. 200 yards down stream, I saw blood up the bank. I yelled back at my buddy, "I found blood". He (not really a believer) asked, what in the world made you go this far downstream. I said, the Lord guided me down here. Well, the adventure didn't stop there. Another 3 hours, I was able to put another arrow in him. I know the Lord guided me. I dont' think the Lord, our God, cared if I found the deer. He cared that I put all my thoughts and cares in his hands. It was an awesome experience. I think he was using the deer to show me he's there, always.
great story c-woods, yes he does answer prayer, the bigger your problems the bigger your prayer should be, some days i will walk around in prayer all day, so far i have not been let down even when i don't understand why things happen the way they do, all i can do is leave it in the Fathers hands

Sounds about right, glad you found your doe. It would have been even better if you gave up went back to your truck and it was gutted and laying in the bed.
