Default God blessed me again!

November 3rd is always good for me . . . in the bowhunting world! I killed my first 3 bucks in successive years on Nov. 3rd. I once took a piebald buck on Nov. 3rd and I've had multiple kills on the date as well.

This year was no different.

After an incredible evening on Nov 2nd seeing more deer than I could count, I had high hopes for November 3rd. It didn't quite live up to my expectations in the morning (like I said, I had HIGH hopes). I saw 6 deer, including 2 bucks - one of which I called in, but none of the bucks interested me. I couldn't pass up the "gimme" shot on another doe though and took doe #3 with a 15-20 yard shot and saw where she went down.

In the evening, after spending most of the day butchering my doe, I went out right here at my house. I went to a tree that I used last year which had accounted for several successful harvests. On the way in, I heard some deer get up and looked through brush to see a buck about 40 yards away staring back at me. He eventually took off with another deer or two. I took about 10 more steps and had deer on my right exitting the area - RATS!!! . . . or so I thought . . .

Once reaching the tree, I had a red fox walk past me without seeing me and was able to set up the stand figuring it would probably be better in the morning since the deer were already apparently bedded in there. Just before 5pm, a little doe worked her way past me (her sneeze alerted me to the fact she was approaching). After she had walked past and on up the trail I entered on, I heard another deer approaching form straight in front of me. I saw antlers and, at first thought it was the same 6 point I'd passed earlier in the week from a different stand on my place. When it got closer, I quickly saw 8 points and my heart kicked into overdrive!

He stood about 30 yards out, but I had no shot, and then he started following the doe . . . until my dog barked at something back at the house. The buck reconsidered and turned around and started back the way he came. I came to full draw and quickly found a spot about 25 yards away and he stopped right there! I touched off the relase and heard the satisfying "CRUNCH" that means good hit. He took off and I saw him wobble right at my driveway. I thought I saw him go across the driveway and then I heard him crash! He was down in under 10 seconds and never even thrashed. I was wrong about him crossing the driveway though, he had double back and was still on my side. He only made it 40 yards and, considering the arrows' path, it wasn't surprising. Perfect shot 1/2 way up, tight behind the should and exitted lower and a bit forward on the other side taking out both lungs and slicing a hole through the top of the heart right where the aorta comes out. Hard to run like that.

Anyway, he's big! He has a split brow tine on the left and I was tickled to get this guy. I still have my other buck tag and more doe tags than I can use and my Nov 3rd record continues!

Congrads Dave. Must be nice to hunt only feet away from the house AND have nice deer there. Anytime you need more tags, call me and I will be there....LOL.

Well, let me tell you aboutmy hunting streak I have going. For the past 3 years on opening day of bow season and gun season, I have seen at least two squirrls.....BUT NO DEER.....ugh....LOL. Well, our opening gun season started today and I am at work, so my streak is over...LOL.

I will be going on Tuesday. Anyway, go to hear success stories like yours. Keep it up. BTW, if you want a good fishing trip, I can take you on one for a deer hunt there....hahaha.

Lol Reb . . . . .We're a major city here . . there's another hotel out on 98 called "Bubbas Rooms". Of course the invite still stands to stay with Liz and I anytime ya'll come down. Holler at me after the end of the month and I will let you know how things are shaping up around here.
My dad used to say about raising kids "They grow up and leave one by one and then they move back in two by two". That kinda explains whats going on here now with a son moving back in and possibly my daughter and her kids soon.[&:]

Well, I have the same problem Motor. I don't like to shoot in the deer woods unless I'm hunting. I don't like to shoot at the house even tho I live in the boonies I still have a few neighbors, plus I hunt here too. We have no rifle range around here so I have to go to a friends house and check my sights.
