Default how would you have me pray to a prayer request ?

I see these all the time ......... what would you have me pray ?

Pray that the person recieves a miracle ?

Pray for the people thats being affected by the person being ill or whatever ?

Pray thats God's will be done, that if the person in question is to die so be it ?

What exactly is people wanting by preayer requests ?

Miracles ........... they are few and far between in todays world I think. Furthermore, I believe that my requests for someone I don't even know are ......... a bit out of place. God I think, doesn't want to hear "I want this, give me that, heal this person, heal that person, help me with money, help me catch the winning TD" etc etc

I do not totally discount a miracle, I firmly believe God touched me once, a profound encounter to say the least. None the less, my asking for things isn't the true intent of prayer, is it ? Shouldn't prayer be to praise God ? To glorify Him ? To humble ourselves in His presence and to tell Him how much we love and desire to love ?

I just shake my head sometimes is all .......... like a prayer request to help the Jones family recover from a hurricane, or Uncle Bob to stay sober, or someone I don't even know to help their marriage ........... just seems so petty at time ..........

I respect your opinion but if a person calls out for help in the form of a prayer I will gladly oblige!

Yea, I'll pray for anyone anytime. Ken 3 you need to get yourself up on a pond bank and catch a Brim or gig a frog. A little time off and reflection might help your stuffyness.

i, not being a religious person, have always wodnered about this prayer request stuff. I would never bring it up ina thread requesting for a prayer out of respect, but i guess its ok to mention here.

I dont understand it.

someone has a medical complication, or a family member dies in an accident, and someone asks for prayers for them. Its like god will help them if you get enough people to pray for them.
Like god is just going to let them die, but if enough people pray, he'll help them out?? Is god's love and help a popularity contest?

I understand that it is all a matter of faith and it really is the "thought that counts", and the thought that someone out there cares helps, but it has always made me wonder when i see a prayer request on here. i am in no way trying to offend anyone here, and i definately dont have a problem with these requests.

Often, I think the prayers are meant for the family members that are affected by a given tragedy... You would think someone who would be annoyed by something like this must really be living a good life, when you have to complain that too many people are asking for prayers...

Whatever feels right, no one can tell you how to pray and what way is the right way. Its all personal reference in my book.

It is not as if you are obligated to read the requests or say a prayer. It is a personal matter of faith and what you happen to believe in IMHO. Often just someone saying "positive thoughts coming your way" could go a long way to make someone that needs it feel better..... just a thought.

"I am the way,the thruth and the life;no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"[John 14:6] We must pray in Christ."And whatsoever ye shall ask inmy name, thatwill I do,that the Father may be glorified in the Son[John 14:3] Praying in His name we pray with simplicity and truth,in harmony with Christs life and teachings."If ye abide in me and my wordsabide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you,Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bearmuch fruit"[John 15:8] WE must also pray with faith. "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall recieve"[Matthew21:22] And in every circumstance we must desire Gods will more than our own. Prayer then is our door way to God,WE must enter through Christ, who is the door.

Here we go again. I dont have a problem with anyone coming here and asking for prayer but its as simple as that. "Would you pray for ?????"
This is not that. It is a post that belongs in the proper forum and as such I would request that a mod move it to that forum.
