Default Wondering about what we pray for.......

I was jogging down the road the other day & was having a chat with God & all I wanted to convey to Him was....I want to be in His company at all times. I don't want anything. I just want to know that I'm with Him & in His will.
Do we as a society pray for too much "stuff"? I can't think of anything I really want from God, except to be with Him. I find myself disapointed in so many churches because they are so materialism oriented.

That's correct Sis Sunset, It's not what God can do for us, but what we can do for him. "Love Me and Obey My Commandments" sayestthe Lord.

The Bible says He already knows what we need before we ask Him. It also says that He will grant to us the desires of our heart. But most importanly the Bible also says He inhabits the praises of His people. He just wants to be loved and be the Center of our lives.

He also says,
"Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Phil. 4:6

"Ye lust, and have not; ye kill, kill and desire to have, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war, yet you have not because you ask not. James4:2

"Ask and it shall be given you." Matt.7:7

"For everyone that asketh receiveth."

"And all things whtsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." Matt.21:22

"If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it." John 24:14

God wants us to pray, in fact He commands us to pray..

"Men ought always to pray, and not to faint." Luke 18:1

"Pray without ceasing." 1 Thess. 5:17

I think a Christian should always pray about every thing, but always in God's will..He says,

"Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name; ask, and ye shall receive, THAT YOUR JOY MAYBE FULL."

Yes asRev. said, He will sometimes give us the desires of our hearts above and beyond our needs if we serve him and believe He is a God who hears and answers prayer..and yes, i believe like magnum said, we sometimes ask for foolish things that out of the will of God..there is nothing to big or to smallfor God..

A pastor I heard once said that when you pray, "in Jesus' name" you should be praying for the same thing(s) that Jesus would be praying for you.

God desires that we ask Him for things as Motor has already pointed out.

There is no shortage in God's supply house. Here are a few scriptures that come to mind. I'm getting ready to go to the swamp so I won't list references
We are to pray without ceasing .
Cast ALL our cares upon Him
Ask what YE will

My daily prayers generally consist of the following and in this order.

1st Praise God and thank Him for all the blessings and name them one by one...ask for Him to forgive me for my sins before I even start praying.

2nd. Pray for Christian prisoners in Sudan , Indnesia, China, Afganistan, etc.

3rd. Pray for Knifemaker Bill, Strut's wife and her sister and all others who are diseased with cancer etc.

4th Pray for myself mostly love and more self control
for my family and kids.

5th to be an effective teacher m dad , husband and peace in my classroom

6. To have a love for God in my heart tha texceeds everything else.

7. This morning ..safety to my stand and in my stand.

8. For forgiveness for those who have wronged me.

9. The Dave Wilkerson Ministry

10. And MTHand's daughter

11. Mrs Stiefel and Mrs Hineline both teachers going through serious trials.

and what ever else care I may have..
In Jesus name Amen
