Default Walking by faith, not by sight...

We are told specifically how faith comes to an individual. "So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" Romans 10:17.This settles how faith comes, it comes by hearing the word of God. Where God has not spoken, there can be no faith. Remember in Romans 14:23, God tells us that: "Whatever is not of faith is sin." So for us to bring into the service of God things that are not clearly taught by the scriptures it is sin, because it is not by faith. To do so, is to substitute the opinions of man for the truth of God. This is rebellion against God.

What do you say?

Growing in Christ,

Just as is taking away, or changing the manner of worship as found writtenin the scriptures, with out a commandment from the Lord.
In the past I seem to recall you have gotten very upset when this subject was discussed. I find it interesting that you would want to start it again.

I always have my bible opened, dating and outliningscripture from the pastors sermon. So far, for the last 15yrs, he has preached word for word out of the bible. No contradicting commets or personalopinions, he strictly preaches the word of God.

I don't remember. I'm just posting what I was studying abouttoday. What I posted is not the final word, just a discussion starter. I wasn't trying to start any problems, just askingwhat others thought of my conclusion.

I agree from my perspective, but I can see where it could become a slippery slope if someone wants to argue a point.

For instance, we aren't told one way or the other specifically what to wear to a worship service, or where to meet, or what time to meet, or how long the service should last, etc.

I do think that these arguments could easily be avoided by speaking where the Bible speaks, and being silent where the Bible is silent. Concerning New Testament worship, there areenough examples to have a guideline to follow.

I believe where certain things are mentioned specifically, that is what we should do--no more, and no less. For example, taking what we refer to as The Lord's Supper and worship in song.

Where there are no specifics mentioned, I believe it's left to our descretion but should be guided with common sense. We aren't told specifically what clothes to wear, but we know it should be modest. We aren't told exactly where to meet, but logically it should be in a central location if possible, and away from distractions and bad influences--in other words, it wouldn't make any sense to me to set up a worship service next door to a strip club.

I don't see anything wrong with having a meeting place that is convenient, comfortable, and safe. I do have a problem with extravagant buildings that seem to scream "look how much money we have". Again though, that can be a slippery slope. Some folks might consider a building with heat and air conditioning "extravagant".

Goose and LBR are both right.

It's not always easy living by faith, but by His grace you can. Just the same as being saved by grace, through faith......

Faith is one of the best gifts given to the church IMO. Obviously w/ the Blood being at the top.

THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!

If God has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness, 2 Peter 1:3,then what things are not included in ALL THINGS?

And in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, we ahve been told we can be equipped for every good work. So what good work is not included in Every good work?

Either God has supplied our every need, or He has left us to wonder about some things. I believe He has covered everything and we must comply.

"Faith comes by hearing the word of God" Romans 10:17 ,,,,,faith comes from hearing the word of God and useing Godsgift, of free will, to then believe or not to believe, only after chooseingtoo believe in Gods word to be true in every wayand that christ died for you,to pay your sin debt,is the spark of FAITH born in a christianshart and life...as a christian's knowledge of Gods word and God's gift of wishdom growsso will thier FAITH..

just my take on this,,,,,,,,,,,,,
