6Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?
7But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.
8And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.
9He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
10They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
11God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. 12I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. 13His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. 14He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.
15I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.
16My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
17Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.
......but the very last sentence is THE most important.....
we never know why we go through things..sometimes it's a result of sin... sometimes not. It's all in Gods' planning for our lives... plus, we all know that fire purifies... and noone here,I believe, likes to go thru the fire, whether God lights it or we do.
Keep your Prayers pure Brethern...........that's the key
.... I'd get a D- in that area... definately room for improvement.[&o]
Rem--I agree, and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. We might be getting the correction [read punishment] we deserve OR the Lord may be teaching us something and helping us to exercise our faith and rely on Him. It could even be something like what Job experienced - a testing of sorts. The testing is for US to know how we would respond. God already knows what we're gonna do.

Some of it is spiritual suffering. When we are in sin and bad things happen, we feel it was something we did. When we are walking true to God's word, and bad things happen we then have to stand on God's word and remember James 1:2-3 that says, " My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience." However we must remember that we are children of the Most High God amd we are in a spiritual battle Eph. 6:12 " For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places."

RE: to all who think suffering is from sin......
My father inlaw, who is my pastor, puts it this way; when things are going good, look into your life. Satan has you so he doesnt bother as much with you. When things are going wrong, Satan is trying to dig is paws into you. He wants you to question the word.
I think that line of thinking holds many trues.

When trials come to me..first I question me...
but lately it's been like Burnie has said.
Our enemy doesn't sleep. He wars against our faith...often times using other believers to try to get you to doubt your relationship with God. He knows a house divided can't stand.

I agree with your pastor. One point that I often ponder is the fact that we are certainly capable of wicked, sinfull deeds without the influence of satan. So many think that if the devil would just leave them alone they would be alright.

Excelent post Burnie!

Good stuff. My pastor told the congregation that satan uses guilt to get at us. Sometimes what we go through is just what the Father wants us to go through. I'm as guilty as anyone on this one. Why me Lord? Thanks for the post and the informative replies. Larry
