Yahveh Yashua ~The Holy One Of Israel
The Pope is saying the Catholic Church recognizes Allah as being the same as:
· The God who promised Abraham that the fruit from his loins would be as numerous as the stars of heaven, the sand by the seashore and the dust of the earth. He also promised that He would give Abraham?Ts heirs a land, and that He would be a personal God to them. (Genesis 15; 17:7-9)
· The God who said the promises He made to Abraham would be fulfilled through the descendants of Isaac and Jacob, and not through Ishmael! (Genesis 17:19) · The God who spoke to Moses at the burning bush saying, "I am the God of Abraham, I Am the God of Isaac, I Am the God of Jacob." (Mark 12:26) · The God who gave Moses the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai. (Exodus 31:10) · The God who said the people of Israel were His portion of the peoples. (Deuteronomy 32:9) · The God who promised David an everlasting kingdom. (Ezekeil 37:25) · The God whose heavenly Jerusalem has twelve gates named after the twelve tribes of Israel. (Revelations 21;12) · The God whose Son died in the place of those who would accept Him as their Savior. (John 8:22-24) · The God whose Son will return and make the kingdoms of this world His Kingdom, and who will rule from Mount Zion and not from Mecca. (Hebrews 12:22)
Despite the edict of the Vatican, I am sure that the majority of Christians and Jews do not see the Holy One of Israel and Allah as being the same.

The Pope is wrong on this. He is just trying to appease the muslims because of the temper tantrum they threw following his quote of someone else . . . a quote that was entirely true.

I believe the point is that both Muslims and Christians believe there exists only one God. Therefore if it's true that only one God exists then the God of both Muslims and Christians has to be one and the same. Pretty striaght forward logic. The difference lies in what each faith believes about the one God of the universe which is quite obviously not the same as believing in a different God. I think it is a mistake to read more into what the pope said than this.
Your spot on there Dave. It's just like when Bush ahs to call Islam a religion of 'peace'--he knows it isn't but it is what has to be said to appease them and the diversity crowd.
I believe the point is that both Muslims and Christians believe there exists only one God.IMHOThis is true..Therefore if it's true that only one God exists then the God of both Muslims and Christians has to be one and the same.IMHO...they are not the same God. Jesus said there is no salvation except through Jesus .Jesus was God in the flesh. They do not except Jesus..the Christian God. Trinity or Oneness we both believe Jesus was divine and God Himself as he told Phillip."If you have seen me you hjave seen the Father."Muslims only see Jesus as a teacher/ prophet. Pretty striaght forward logic. The difference lies in what each faith believes about the one God of the universe which is quite obviously not the same as believing in a different God.
