Default Twisting Scripture

The Bible is filled with lessons and teachings, joy and love. It is THE manual for our life.

However many people form their own ideas and then hunt through the Bible with a magnifying glass and tweezers, looking for bits and pieces they can use to "prove" they are right.

Wile some people do not seem capable of forming a personal view of anything. You ask them a question and they quote a passage.

Just an obsevation and food for thought.

Good observation my friend..Jesus was a person like that..
John 12: 49 I don't speak on my own. I say only what the Father who sent me has told me to say. 50I know that his commands will bring eternal life. That is why I tell you exactly what the Father has told me.

Jesus gave us some good advice and a glimpse into his will in John 5:39 when he said, Search the scriptures (with tweezers and a magnifing glass if needed), for in them ye think ye have eternal life.
Jesus also said "strait is the gate-strive ye therefore to enter in at the strait gate". Here we go answering with scripture again, Jesus also said "the word is life"
IMO eternal life is too important to approached with a casual attitude.
Few there be that find it!

What about "opinions" on what is in the Bible.

I was just wadding through the thread on "Church Organizations". There seems to be a lot of " I am right because it says this in the Bible" and "No you are wrong because it says this in the Bible" going on.

And that is what I was getting at in my first post here. The TRUTH is in the Bible but men pick and choose what they want to accept as truth and they twist scripture so it looks like it is supporting their ideas.

How often the Pharisees confronted Jesus with "it is written that..." attempting to trip Him on some interpretation they were twisting. Jesus could not be snared by them because He really knew scripture and its meanings.

That is called being immature. Many on here don't even reply on alot of these post and threads.

Nevertheless...the gospel is going forth...according to Paul.
How often the Pharisees confronted Jesus with "it is written that..." attempting to trip Him on some interpretation they were twisting.I don't sense any Pharisees on here at this time. I do see Christians who are very zealous over their church beliefs. Asit's been said countless times before i."If you don't like what's beingsaid in a thread ...leave it alone."A few of these guys like posting scriptures about things they have studied andbelieve in.Jesus could not be snared by them because He really knew scripture and its meanings.

Duffy, nice to meet you.

There is much truth to what you have posted. In defense of the group that are the regulars on this forum though I must add a few comments.

You have to remember who you are talking to. Most of us have known one another for several years now.

The arguing you see going on is not a reflection of folks being bad Christians. It is a result of the larger issues having been discussed and all that is left are the smaller grayer issues.

Men love to argue, we as men are guilty. Ask Leaf River Lizze.

The only time I would get concerned is if I ever see a post that goes against Jesus"™ two basic teachings: Know the Lord is Lord, and love our fellow man as we love ourselves.

Your thread is a timely reminder of what is important to how we Christian ought to behave, Thanks.

Thanks
