Default Losing your salvation hitting home.

About 14 years ago my wife and I felt led of God to adopt a child from Children's Services. We found out he would be handicapped. { mentally}

This reminds me of Christ adopting us. Romans 11. and Ephesians 2 "While we were sinners Christ died for us. Although he killed 3 of our animals and my wife cried { For she is a lover of animals } we continued to press on. She taught him at home for 3 years which gave him a nice head start.
He went to the school where I taught at so we handpicked every teacher.

It got to where he couldn't be trusted and needed serous adult supervision. He would throw temper tandrums. We thought a Christian school would be great. We put him in a Church of God 3 years ago .He was suspended for freaking out. After wondering through a home ,Children's Services said we were rsponsible if he gets into any trouble before he is 18. He is now 15. He started senior high this year.

Last month he was suspended for fighting. They changed his classroom. Since he gets off 2 hours before us we have him dropped off at the YMCA after school for only 20.00 a month. While in his new classroom this week he was put in ISS for 5 days for fighting. Today he was kicked out of the YMCA for throwing a chair and calling the director a B....My wife is sleepinbg now as she cried her way to sleep. She''s been crying daily. We found a baby sitter for after school that will cost us 300.00 a month. It's not video games or TV...he has none.

When is enough ..enough ?? we have prayed , fasted and tried everything we know. I called Teen Challenge today..they want 1900.00 a month. The sheriff department said they won't put anyone in the Detention Center unless they are arrested ..and then it's only 14 days. We have friends who have lost 1000s of dollars for kids with similiar issues.

My question....Aaron is alot like some Christains. There is no committment but he probably does not have the understanding to make one.Weare allowed one free consoltation with a lawyer. We are thinking about giving him back up to the state. Trust me..this is a very tough call. When he is 18 I don't see him anything other than a tramp unless some miraculous event takes place. This is where the title of this thread takes hold. Do we let go of this kid ? Or what..and if what is the answer please give us some advice. We are at the end of our rope. There are no services available. Since he takes medication the Boot Camps won't take him either.

Chuck, kids that don"™t go through the normal bonding process, starting from birth, have extra problems.

You may find some help from reading about kids that hadspent most of their lives, from birth to 8 years old, in an orphanage.

It can be a real eye-opener.

Our mental health folks are just now fine-tuning some treatments that are working (sort-of).

The normal reactions ofan adoptive parent may not always the best. They often fail to address the problem, while only addressing the symptoms.

Thanks

He's fine around us. He's a terror around his teachers. Being a teacher myself I e-mail them and we communicate alot. Actually I believe this is a trial of some sorts. He's been fine till we started getting real serious with God. I'm trusting God with it but a marriage is made up of 2 and my wife ..being the weaker vessel is getting sick of it. Remember the Ishmeal story. Sarah complained long enough to get rid of the child andAbraham eventually did.

However; putting feeelings and rationalizations aside I can't thrust him out..which brings me to my original thought..Maybe God's love {Which is greater than mine} would have a hard time thrusting us out too.

He has gone to the altar numerous times and been baptized. He's listened to all the Veggie Tale tapes numerous times He claims to be a Christian. We as dad's represent Christin our homes as the church, Deep down ,I could probably not give him up...
Remember what Moses said to God,,
1. "What will the people say ..that you only delivered your people to abandom them in the desert ?"
2. " And then we have in John 17.." Father ,I've kept them all except for the son of perdition."
God seems to take pride in keeping His Word and in keeping his children.

Now I have given him many warnings of what happens to little boys in jail. I also paddled his butt last night. {Against my wife's will} I only gave him 3 whacks.I've also taken his game system away long ago. He also pulls weeds and does many chores around the house. Plus one hundred sentences of I must display Christlike behavior in the classroom.

man chuck, will be praying without ceasing today on this for you and him and the whole family, i have a friend that had a very rebellious son, my friend did everything to and for this kid, but he never changed[&o], my friend is now raising his kids, the sad thing is this boy is smart and friendly (most of the time) he has had several great jobs and gotten fired because he cannot/will not get along with others, i wish i had an easy answer, but really am at a loss on this, and my friends situation..

the only brightside, with my friend i know those kids (the grandkids)are in a loving and caring home filled with God, his son is drawing disability for his condition (600$ a month) and all he does is sit around and watch tv in a delappadated(sp) old trailer, randy has struggled for years and spent tons of money trying to help him, but to this day he is very rebellious and i wouldn't trust him around any of my personel possessions..

i would suggest checking with your countys mental health assoc.

good luck buddy, i'm hitting my knees on this one for you, cause i can tell it is tearing at you and the misses heart strings[&o]

may God bless you brother with what you need in this very trying situation,

keith
