Default Why Pray?

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power,

and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen.

Who here has ever prayed for a lost friend or relative? Asked God to intervene in grave matters. Even asked God to direct your ways. Well I know I have and do regulary as do most here I imagine. But how about those that believe that God does not impose his will in our lives in any way. Some here believe God is not capable or refuses to regenerate lost souls. That type of thinking would invalidate any efforts to pray for Gods intercession in lives.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16 (KJV

1 Timothy 2:1-8 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing

I didn't reply because I didn't really understand the post. I'm a little slower than most. Let's look at your comment.

I don't know anyone like that or denonmination ..please enlighten me brother if there is such a group. Some here believe God is not capable or refuses to regenerate lost souls.News to me.That type of thinking would invalidate any efforts to pray for Gods intercession in lives. Amen..but I don't know of any.

Glad to hear you fellows feel that way. Going by some of the threads in here I may have gotten the wrong impression that some of you felt so strongly about mans free will that you were disabling theLord.

We know thatGod is sovereign and can overcome all resistance when he wills. "He does according to his will in the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand!" (Daniel 4:35). "Our God is in the heavens; he does whatever he pleases" (Psalm 115:3). When God undertakes to fulfill his sovereign purpose, no one can successfully resist him.

This is what Paul taught in Romans 9:14-18, which caused his opponent to say, "Why then does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?" To which Paul answers: "Who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, 'Why have you made me thus?' Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for beauty and another for menial use?" (Romans 9:20f).
