Default The tongue

there is a lot of power in the tongue. i heard this story a while back and thought i'd share with ya'll.

the biggest Assembly of God Church in the world is in Seoul, South Korea. I think the pastors name is Choi but not sure. Anyway, Pastor Choi was having dinner with one of the worlds most prestigious brain surgeons. The dr. told the pastor that the medical world has made a giant new discovery in the human brain. He said that out of all the parts of the brain the small piece that controls the tongue has dominion over the entire brain. he said that when the small part of the brain that controls the tongue is stimulated that the entire brain reacts someway. That no other part of the brain willmake the entire brain react, just the part that controls the tongue. the pastor looks at the dr. and says, i knew that for a long time. the dr asked, how could you have known that for a long time, this is a new discovery!! the pastor said, its in James chapter3.

I know a lot of you will probably disagree with me on this but I believe it. I do believe that we have what we speak. Ifyou speak some kind of cursings, for instance, I'm tired, your body will react and you will feel tired. If you say, i feel sick, your body will make itselfsick. This works in all areas of your life not just in your body. If you say, I am as broke asa stick horse, than you'll get what you speak.

I havepaid a lot of attention to the way I speak. In public and in private. I am amazed the difference it has made in my life. I haven't been sick one time, my finances have never been better, I have been blessed both financially, spiritually, socially, imotionally and physically. My faith has grown and my relationship with Jesus has never been stronger.

Try it, read it in the scriptures. You will start to see a difference in your life too. whats funny is that you will start tohear and notice others speak the cursings that you once said all the time, and when you hear them say it, you will come to a point of correcting them. I heard my NCOIC say the other day, I think I may have cancer. I looked at her and said, dont say that, speak positive.

Thought that i would share.

God bless

I know I sometimes talk about something happening (unusual things) and it happens. And I sure know that it irritates me when others say "I know it will never happen but we should...." Or when people say "its a given that ...will happen but it shouldn't..." Or "we should do this but the powers that be will never allow it so lets not even bother"

Speak the truth, be posative and do what you feel is right. If someone else is going to oppose truth and right, let it be on their head not on yours.

I often pray in my mind to myself but it feels different when I speak the words and pray out loud.

Have a good one!

Thanks brother..I heard this testimony in 1983 as well. I'm a firm believer in the power of the I haven't read this yet but I know about Pastor Choi and this message. I 'm excited as I prrepare to read your post.

there is a lot of power in the tongue. i heard this story a while back and thought i'd share with ya'll.

the biggest Assembly of God Church in the world is in Seoul, South Korea. I think the pastors name is Choi but not sure. And here's the reason whyhis church is successful. He founded the cell groups phiolosophy.. Churches dividing amongst themselves so that everyone is fed. Very wise man.Anyway, Pastor Choi was having dinner with one of the worlds most prestigious brain surgeons. The dr. told the pastor that the medical world has made a giant new discovery in the human brain. He said that out of all the parts of the brain the small piece that controls the tongue has dominion over the entire brain. he said that when the small part of the brain that controls the tongue is stimulated that the entire brain reacts someway. I know a lot of you will probably disagree with me on this but I believe it. I believe it as well because James tells us that.I do believe that we have what we speak. Ifyou speak some kind of cursings, for instance, I'm tired, your body will react and you will feel tired. If you say, i feel sick, your body will make itselfsick.NO I don't believe that. And this is where I heard the message ...from a charismatic faith church. What I do believe is to praise God during trials as Paul and Silas did. I believe in praying God's Word mostly in my prayers. I do believe if you back bite that you will be judged very quickly. I believe that God 's word can save people and we should share His Word. I don't believe in the claim it name it heresy that went out in the 70s. or that curses happen from a slip of the tongue. I do beleive though that God will "Show His salvation to them who have ordered their conversation rightly. " I do beleive as Psalm 37 proclaims."If you want to see many days and good days watch your tongue. "This works in all areas of your life not just in your body. If you say, I am as broke asa stick horse, than you'll get what you speak. No brother. That is taking this to the extreme. Yes we are to guard our tongue with all diligence but if this be the case we would be in great trouble. I am doing very wellalso my friend and it has nothing with me saying the correct words. A matter of fact I go through days where I purposely say nothing. I agree to a certain degree but the true believer isn't focused on whether he is sick or prospering . He simply seeks God's Kingdom first and God has promiced to do the rest. As far as guarding your tongue to keep out of conflicts on the job and even on here AMEN ...we should all be doing that.
My dear brother..I'm speaking from experieince. I've been through the teachings of Hagin, Copeland, Wigglesworth , John Lake etc. etc. I dare not say a word against these but I will say there istoo much focus on WHAT CAN I GET FROM MY CHRISTAIN EXPERIENCE. Paul says this.

1 Tim.6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

I havepaid a lot of attention to the way I speak. In public and in private. I am amazed the difference it has made in my life.Amen brother..and yes in the right context that is a powerful victory..haven't been sick one time, don't know about that. and if you haven't been sick, give God the glory..it 's not your self control of your tongue. Paul says there is nothing good in my flesh.NOthing. If there is good it comes from Christ . my finances have never been better, neither has mine..but it's nothing I've done. I don't seek one ounce of glory .His grace has opened the doors. I have been blessed both financially, spiritually, socially, imotionally and physically.Praise be to God.My faith has grown and my relationship with Jesus has never been stronger.
Question ...why did Paul leave a friend sick in another town?{Miletus}
Why did Paul go through periods of being poor? Bad confession???
Why did Paul confess with his tongue that he "Was the chief of sinners ? That is not a good confession.
Why am I bringing you all this dialog?? Because deep down I care for you. I've seen sincere Christains believe this doctrine very sincere like you and have been shipwrecked when....
They were diagnosed with cancer or
Lost their jobs.
or their cars kept breaking down and draining their wallets.
or medical bills.

My friend...the gospel is not a self centered gospel. It's a Christ centered gospel. Yea...there are tons of benefits to the believer..only because of his grace. "For he rains on the just and the unjust ." He is not a respector of persons.
God bless,
Chuck7

How can one utter words of love and swetness and with teh same tongue form words of evil and curse ?

Can a fountain give bitter water and sweet water ?

You are right brother!!!
You can control your childrens destiny with it, Just like Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. Did you ever notice that everything that the father said his son would become came to pass in the old testiment?
Unfortunatly, you can bring about your own cursing with it, also....
You can kill someone else with it...
And you can destroy your own testimony, and in most cases not even know you did.

According to James, the tongue is pretty tough to tame -- and anyone that can can control his whole body. He also says that is comparable to the rudder on a ship. We should do what we can to keep our tongue under control and to use positive, edifying speech which is approved by God.
