2Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2Pe 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
2Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2Pe 2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
2Pe 2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
2Pe 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds
2Pe 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
2Pe 2:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
2Pe 2:11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
2Pe 2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
2Pe 2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
2Pe 2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
2Pe 2:16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
2Pe 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
2Pe 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
2Pe 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Chuck, Many of us who have experienced a tremendously powerful work of grace in our lives, understand that God can do anything. He can reach these people who have gone astray, and even those lost in the "delusions of their own minds." We know that no false prophet, or teacher, or any spirit of anti-christ can separate us from the love of God. Our strength, our hope, and our esteem, flows from Him and not ourselves. Nothing done in the flesh comes from God, all things are done by His mighty Holy Spirit. Therefore, we need to pray that God will reveal His life-transforming grace to these people teaching "another gospel." Pray that the those who scoff will have "ears to hear." And pray that we may draw closer to Him and heed His warning signs.

2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
These are some of the verses that have me confused about "Once Saved, Always Saved".

Jesus said, "he who stands firm to the end will be saved" Mark 13:13.
Live Life in such a way that those who do not know Christ will come to know Him because they know you
2Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction
Amen!......One need only look to the dead Churches that teach lost salvation, water baptism, tongue speaking, and physical miracles to see that there are indeed false prophets setting at the head of the local congregations.

2Pe 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
Amen!....The growth of carnal denominationalism is at an all time high
Quote:
2Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Amen!.....One need only look at the crafty manner in which the servants of satan sell their "fall from salvation" doctrine to see this.

2Pe 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
A super Amen to that!!!..... Despite the false teachers, who attempt to trap the Chosen into their "you can lose God's salvation" , the Chosen will always escape their snare, for the Lord Jesus Promises that no one, including the false beasts, can snatch them from His hand!!!
Quote:
2Pe 2:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
Here we see the Lord inspire words that mark the false Brothers, who represent the tares among His Wheat.
Quote:
2Pe 2:11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
2Pe 2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
Naturally. The children of satan, who themselves are destined for damnation , while proclaiming to be indwelt, will mock, and ridicule the True Church, and attempt to rob her of her eternal Salvistic state.
Quote:
2Pe 2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
Again, a perfect picture of the false Brethren who pretend to pray with you, love you, and desire your salvation in the Lord.
Quote:
2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
The natural state of the tares, who pose as Brethren, while professing that Brotherhood is conditional. The old adage, "misery loves company comes to mind.
Quote:
2Pe 2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
The nature of the false Brother
Quote:
2Pe 2:16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
2Pe 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
2Pe 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
One need only attend a false church that teaches lost salvation, tongues, physical miracles, and baptism salvation to see the desire of these beasts to trap the Chosen.
Quote:
2Pe 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
Amen. These beasts promise men freedom if they follow their works based doctrines, that deny Jesus Christ as the Sovereign Lord, of Purpose. While the True Children escape this pervertion, the unsaved are bound with them in their bondage.
Quote:
2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
Sadly these wretches never knew the Lord's Grace, hence their hate filled doctrines, and rhetoric.
Quote:
2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
The natural state of the unsaved, is to return to what is familiar. The Good News is that the True Children will never face such a pitiful existence, Praise to the Lord Jesus Christ Who keeps them Eternally bound in the Cleft of the Rock.!!!!!!
I would also add that this Scripture brings to mind Judas Iscariot. Here we had a man who literally dwelt with God in the Flesh. He recieved the ways of righteousness, as the other 11 did. He witnessed the physical miracles, and Loving Acts of Jesus Christ. By every account Judas appeared to be a Child of God. His time with Jesus appeared to have saved him from the pollution of the carnal world, yet in the end, he proved true to his nature, and like the dog, he returned to his vomit.
Beloved, if anything, this Scripture tells us that there are indeed tares among the Wheat, goats among the Sheep. While these beasts may devour the weak, we who hold strong , based on Gods Promise, that tells us we will perservere, despite the fiery darts of the wicked one, we recieve an eternal peace, that no man can steal!!!
Reb, contrary to everything thats been said on this subject IMO I wonder about the understanding of the term "saved" . . .what are we saved from? . . . . we're saved from judgment . . .this life must end before that day. I have no doubt that once we're saved we will always be saved. Meanwhile we are redeemed and there are many examples of folk giving their lives back to the devil after the manner spoken of in "2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning."
I hear both sides of this, . . .maybe it's because this issue is not an issue with me but the only harm I see in a once saved always saved belief would be toward "a taking sin lightly way".
Myself, being of limited understanding, if I err I will err reaching for the mark.
I'm not interested in debating this with anyone, especially the ones that are consumed with it. To me, it's the "well you must have never had salvation in the first place argument towards backsliders", that voids any merit in believing you can't lose your salvation, because it's possible that you never had it anyway.[&:][&:]
I know this, I want to be having a walking , talking relationship with the Lord and know that I am good standing when my fullness of time has come.
