Not really very much DH no.
I try to look at the things- as just things. And the good things i do have& be happy for them- not be unhappy for what i dont have or that isnt important anyways.
Wants& needs.Are 2 diffent things.

You will find many of those at the "top"& with so many things they dont know what to do with them all or what to buy with there money - still wanting& needing more& still unhappy.

Ecclesiastes 5:10

He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this [is] also vanity.

Matthew 6:21

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Luke 12:15-21

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, [and] be merry. But God said unto him, [Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So [is] he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

i have said this before,a man that always wants will never have enough, the person who learns to be truley content, will have more than enough

EXCELLENT POST!!! All the replies are great. Mine is alot like Barnabus {MTHands} however since this one is where I'm at I 'll add some too.

Do ya ever find yourself unhappy with what ya have ?? All of the following in my opinion..

I am very content with what I have. I am very blessed. Great wife, enough guns, deer stands, calls, for where I fish enough boat, and plenty of rods. For my mechanical knowledge ..even enough tools. Church is great. Plenty of friends and enough money.

Problem...the Word says "coveteousness is idolatry." That is a big deal.God's Word also says.."Contentment with godliness is great gain for certainly you've brought nothing in this world and you are taking nothing out."

I've notice th esnare is in the advertisement. Companies pay huge dollars to lure your eyes to tempt you to want more. It's called th e"Pride of life." Same as a women. My wife is awesome. Then I'll get a message from a friend who has hotnail. As I try to read the message there in the upper corner is a half naked women .The picture is suggesting me to click on it an dget more info ...luring me into the sin of committing adultury with my eyes. Or like yesterday ....my wife full of joy comes to the computer. She sees a gorgeous home that she can't get right now. NOw she is disappointed and unhappy with our present home. Last week I was walking around Wally when I saw a shotgun that others on here has bragged about. I already have a shotgun and yet I was very tempted to buy another just because others said it was a great gun to have . Mossberg 835 Turkey gun. Then a still voice says ..when the other gun proves in adequate get the gun.Until then be content.

Bottom line....don't spend alot of time on ebay, catalogs. and long conversations about what you wish you had. { Talking to me here} Enjoy what you have . When it breaks replace it but stop wanting more. We have no TV ..that has helped alot. Our minds are relatively very weak or companies would not be spending millions flashing a 15 second ad in your face telling you tha tyou need a new car or Big Mac. Instead..spend a little more time and resources on the person who truly is lacking. Kind of long but you hit me right between the eyes on this one.

Your sure rightC7 about those out there trying to sell you things.Adds& commericals to tempt&sway & convince you& tell you even what you "need"& who you are.(and other messages)(brainwashing)(visual media is very good at that)

One type i get a kick out of - There Telling you "your worth it"-dont deny yourself-you deserve to give to yourself these things etc etc .

I have a thick skull maybe ?- there tactics&tricks dont work very well on me.

Keeping up with the jones is not good either*& a tactic used also -Also envy&jeliously& playingonones ego & trying to equate your selfworth to what you own& can show off. Not good.

I don't know about everyone else, but I usually find myself thinking I have too much! I know I'm happier when things are simple and I don't have a lot of stuff to deal with in my house/garage.

Best thing I ever did was get rid of 75% of my kids toys. I had them bag up all the stuff in good condition and we went as a family to donate it to charity. The broken stuff went to the recyclers. What was left was the stuff they liked the most, and surprise surprise, it was mostly stuff you have to do as a group or family. Except the playstation of course! Although we have had some very heated family tournaments with the North American Grand Slam hunting game! Love that one!

Point is, stuff is stuff. Yeah, I got some "stuff" I won't get rid of, and some stuff I would like to have, but when I sit back and get the greed under control, I find that what I really want is quality time with the family.

Stuff does not equal happiness.

I don't play the keeping up with the Jones either brother. We don't go to candle and tupperware parties. Sorry ..we don't and have never played the game. We've never bought a new car. As I look around here ..our leather furniture bought discounted yard sale. My oak desk I redid after I found it in someone's trash.Dinette set ..bought at yard sale. Hunting equip.side jobs. The battle is tough though. I get tempted in other areas..and it's the same thing.Remove the stimulus ..the lure. No TV has helped alot but there are many more lures. Peer pressure from others, our past experiences , bill boards, our own moods .
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Acts 20:35
[35] I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

My brother, He will give back ten fold!
