While distributing Christian literature, Pastor M. Aharon, was mercilessly assaulted by a group of militant Hindus. He was assaulted for converting Hindus and Muslims to Christianity. His face was covered with blood from heavy blows to his mouth and nose. He survived the brutal attack at the hands of Hindu radicals in the town of Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh, located about 300 miles east of Bombay in central India.
During this violent incident, a mob of over 100 Hindu radicals cheered and yelled in support of the attack on Pastor Aharon, inciting the rest of the crowd to turn against him. Police stood by as the extensive attack was being carried out, and the constables even prevented the pastor from escaping. Only after Aharon could barely hold himself up did police begin to escort him from the tumultuous scene. They carried out their attack plan as a secret mission to keep other pastors from spreading the gospel in India.
Pastor Aharon, who has led 700 Hindus and Muslims to Christ and has established 12 churches in this community, has outraged radical Hindus and Muslims. When a VOM contact asked Pastor Aharon what was going through his mind during the attack, he said, "I remembered Christ and many others persecuted for their faith in the last twenty centuries."
Friends,
We support an awesome group called Voice of The Myrtyrs. For 30 dollars...they are sending us 5 Bibles wriitten in different languages. They come already packaged up and we send them out from our address. I love this organization. Thier purpose is to help folks such as the one Rev talked. They have actually paid the ransom money before to free pastors. They aer on top of the persecuted church and I highly recconmend them if someone is looking for a grea tministry to support. They also have short term missins work I beleive out of Texas in which you work in packing up Bibles and help to distribute them.
The Persecuted Church
When we think of martyrs the picture comes to mind of Christians being eaten in the Roman arenas of the first century. Not many of us associate this word with believers today. Most of the people who have internet access have grown up in a free society where attending church was as normal as going to school. But this isn't the case for our brothers and sisters throughout the world. Believers living in Communist and Islamic countries are being imprisoned, enslaved, tortured and martyred daily. This page is dedicated to our suffering brethren.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 24 that one of the signs of the last days will be an increase in the persecution of believers. I believe that we are seeing this sign fulfilled before our very eyes. There have been more martyrs in the 20th century than in all previous centuries combined. This persecution is increasing. It may seem like there has been a great advancement in stopping the persecution with the fall of communism; and it is true that believers in many of these former Communist countries have much more freedom to practice their faith than they had ever had before. But we can see the storm clouds starting to form on the horizon.
Russia is very unstable now and President Yeltsin will not be governing much longer. There are many hardliners who are waiting in the wings and just biding their time until they can take power. When they take over the leadership, I believe we will see a resurgence in the persecution of believers there and elsewhere in the former Soviet Union. What a blessing and window of opportunity God has given us in these past few years for us to provide our Eastern Block brethren with Bibles, evangelism tools, church planters and missionaries to help them reach the lost in their countries. But this opportunity may not last much longer before the Iron Curtain drops again.
When we peek behind the Bamboo Curtain we see that communism is alive and well in these counties. China, Vietnam, Laos, Tibet, Indonesia, and North Korea are nations where Christians still suffer on a daily basis for their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Even in the Mexican state of Chiapas, Christians have been beaten, murdered and had their homes burned down. Believers in some parts of Columbia, Peru and other South American countries where there is Communist guerrilla activity are facing persecution.
Islamic countries are a tough place for Christians these days. With the rise of Islamic fundamentalism and the take over of governments by Islamic extremists, Christians are suffering greatly in these countries. Sudan is a place of horror where over a million Christians have been martyred.
Please remember daily our suffering brothers and sisters inprisoned for the sake of the gospel.

Thats right Chuck.. that's where I got this information. They are a great organization. We don't see that kind of persecution in the US, but in other parts of the world it's dangerous to be a Christian.
Actually, independent churches which have been Baptistic in doctrine have existed since apostolic times. Long before the Protestant Reformation began there were independent churches in both Europe and Asia. An Independent Baptist Church, therefore, is nothing new or novel. It has an ancient and glorious heritage. Though, in various periods of church history, members of independent churches have been persecuted and even slain for the faith, such churches continue until the present day. There are 15,000 in the U.S. alone.

Live Life in such a way that those who do not know Christ will come to know Him because they know you
yeah rev, and chrsitians launch crusades and inquisitions. Good old history
You are so right, but when was the last time the Christians went on a crusade or inquisition... not in our lifetime.. but it seems that those who are defending the Anti-Christians use that... They have nothing else to fall on... I've heard that, so try something new my friend. I am afraid you don't have a valid reason other than your opposition to the truth.
See, I see things differently. Christians never started the inguisition but people saying they were. They never read the New Testiment I know and love.
