Get your boats ready, you are going to get hit with many waters from TD Alberto, we are getting quite a bit down here, but not as much as you will. [&:]

I'm getting some rain NOW, but need much more! My grass is all brown and have to water my Citrus Tree's every day cause they are in new fruit.

The only things I don'tlike is the lighting and wind's, but rain, bring it on!

Mine just started.Doesn't last long unless you live closer to Lake Ontario. I have Rhubarb also. Good mix in pie. I put them in as they are one of my most cost effective crops. Have a new little retirement home. Put in Sweet Cheeries, Apples and Peaches also. Reliving my farm childhood.

What is a Oso Grande strawberry..Don't know any spainish but looks like big and grand??

Oso Grande means Big Bear.

Florida Strawberry Varieties
Two of the most popular varieties grown in Florida, Oso Grande and Selva, were developed at the University of California. A third variety, Sweet Charlie, was recently released by the University of Florida and is gaining ground.
Florida's strawberry season begins in November when Selva, the earliest variety, is usually ready to be picked. Harvest of Oso Grande begins in late December and peaks in March. Selva accounted for 29 percent of Florida's 1993/94 strawberry area, down from 47 percent in 1992/93. Oso Grande was 55 percent of 1993/94 acreage in Florida, up from 45 percent the year before.
Sweet Charlie is an early-fruiting strawberry variety developed for Florida growing conditions. An important quality is its resistance to anthracnose, a fungus disease that thrives in the hot, humid southern climate. Sweet Charlie accounted for 16 percent of Florida acreage in 1993/94, its second year of commercial use, up from 4 percent. Sweet Charlie fills a seasonal gap for Florida growers by ripening after Selva and before Oso Grande.

Reb,
I don't go to the Strawberry Festival. I hate mobs of people. I do feel bad..I didn't even pick berries once this year. When I visited Strut he and his wife had a great big bowl of berries. When he and his wife were not lookin I snuck a few out of the bowl and a few out of their big patch. Don't tell please. He is very protective of his berries.Denny...I love rhubarb and strawberry pie. When can I come and get a piece? We used to grow both of those commodities in Maryland. I sent Strut a few boxes of our Dancy tangerines Reb. They don't get fruit like ours up ther ein Missouri.
