The devil and prayer

Do you think that the devil can overhere your prayers, Just something i have been thinking about. It seems that whenever i am in a trying time and praying more throughout the day i am confronted with situations that are very entising. Usually a situation that could make me feel better for the moment and hurt me worse in the end as well many others. In past days that i am not proud of i would not have seen this. I would have jumped to the chance to make my self feel better and never thought of others or what god would want me to do. Today i have better a view of gods will by keeping him close at all times.And can see the pain and joy in others through my actions. So i was just wondering of what your thoughts are on this. Do you think that the devil can overhere your prayers or do you think these things are just life on lifes terms and the on going trials that god gives us.

Do you think that the devil can overhere your prayers,NOt for sure but ...we have an insident in the Old Test. where it took the angels I believe 21 days to answer a prayer because of the opposition from the enemy.

That really is a great sign my friend that you are on the right track. Satan bothers those greatly who God can use and is getting through to. Be careful when he stops messsing with you.Usually a situation that could make me feel better for the moment and hurt me worse in the end as well many others. Not 100% sure about Satan hearing our prayers. He is not omnipresent like God. However : he is the arch enemy of your soul and will tempt you through many ways.
Example.
In your own flesh....and when you seem to get a handle on that then carnal Christains will separate you from their company. You will feel as Elijah..forsaken at times. Build your life upon God's Word. the trials are like storms that come and go. Show yourself faithful in those and God will richly reward you. God loves you G5. Your post reflect your earnest seeking spirit. May the Lord pour out His spirit upon you my friend.

I myself, don't think he needs to know the contents of our prayers to temp us. I bet we give him plenty of information to know what hot spots to hit. For instance, if your praying alot, and he knows you have a history of lust, its an easy one for him. Or your getting closer to God, and he knows I have a history of anxiety with things being cluttered or unfinished, he may put alot of clutter in my life. Alot of spilled milk.

I say we don't make it to hard for him to know what temps us and what doesn't.

I think he can hear the prayers that are audibly spoken, but I don't think he can hear silent prayer. The same thing goes for the demons who are present -- they can hear audible prayer. Satan is not omnipresent, he can only be one place at a time, so our temptations - most of the time - is from demons instead of from Satan himself. I still pray out loud at times, like when I'm driving to work (at night so no one thinks I'm crazy) and I don't think it matters that much. Satan and the demons don't need much of a "heads up" in order to thwart our efforts to live holy lives. They can see what we're doing and attempt to interfere.

On a side note -- try starting your prayers with a lot of out-loud praises of God. Satan and the demons hate to ehar that and may step away so you can pray with them not around. Praising God out loud is usually a good tactic to use when you're being tempted since the tempter leaves so that he doesn't have to listen to it.

thanks for all the great response, while i ponder all of your thoughts i would like share something that i think is amazing. When i had first reconnected with my lord and up until now. I have been very tracked to see gods doing, and looking for the good in everyone. I believe that there is good in everyone. I would look at other peoples hardships when asked to do so, and could see god working in their lives. And only recently am i starting to see things full circle. Not only is god everywhere, and always with me, i seem to notice an evil that shadows my every step. To see this makes my desicions that must be made more visable. Or maybe i am just going crazy.I dont know, but i do know the presence is strong in both sides. In a strange sort of way i know where my heart is, and seeing both sides on the field makes my path clear. David H, the demons you speak of, is it fair to say that demons walk amoung us. is battle between angles and demons a reality. I guess that i have had my mind so stuck on god that i havent seen the whole picture. In a sense i feel as if in the sandlot game of life i proved myself and have been chosen for the team ive been striving for. I know that you guys probably think im crazy now but it do think that i am closer now to the battle between good and evil than i have ever been before

You know I struggle with nightmares. Always have. They come in cycles of a few weeks straight and then don't see em for a while. I always thought the devil was in there trying to mess with my thinking. I wonder if he has any knowledge what is said that is private in our heads.

Yes, it is true. When Satan was cast down to earth, he didn't come by himself. He brought a third of the angels that he had deceived along with him -- those are the demons. Satan and the angels already know their fate, so they are doing everything they can to lead people astray, keep Christians from serving the Lord, keep people from hearing about Christ and what He did for us, etc. So yes, it IS a battle for control of your life. Demons are here tempting us and we also have angels there as well. I don't think that angels are involved in influencing our decisions, but the demons certainly do.

As I said before, Satan can only be one place at a time - he's not omnipresent. So when you're being tempted, it's probably not satanhimself, it's more than likely one of his demons doing his bidding.
