I work as a police officer. I take my job very seriously like most of us donut eaters do. I just sent a man to prison for 28 years for molesting several children including his own. I was interviewing the man and asked him why. He stated he couldn't help himself. He stated " Its like a monster inside just lurking about." I could see he skin complextion change and his pupils dilate like he turned into another person. He cried and said he was not going to fight the charges because he knew what he had done was wrong. He stated he has wanted help but didn't know where to get it.
I could tell the man was serious about wanting help. I concluded my interview and didn't even tell him that Jesus died for his sinsand all he needed to do is call on his name. I now find it hard to do my job thinking am i actually helping people by sending them to jail. Could I do more if I would go into the world and seek these people out and tell them about Jesus.
I drive to church and see all the people in the world not getting ready for church and think, why am I going to church instead of knocking on the peoples door who are not. I sit in church and see everyone singing to God but not reaching outside the walls of the church.
This world is going to Hell in a hurry. Iseen on the newswhere the Church of Scientology is down in the hurricane area offering counsiling and assistance to victims. Why couldn't that be a news story about a major revival breaking out and people giving their lives to Jesus. The muslim religion is the fastest growing. They say by the year 2025 it will have more members than the followers of Christ. If we keep sitting in our seats at church Asama Bin Ladin will not have to drop chemical weapon to kill us in the United States. The muslims will sneak into society and take over. Then prophesy will befulfilled to people who claim to be Christians. There is nothing more than muslims love to do than kill americans who say Jesus is their savior. Thats what makes me think what would I do! Ifsomeone had a gun to my head andasking me if I know Jesus. I can't even tell a man getting readyto spend the majority of his life locked up.
I praywhen that day comes I will be bold. That I don't know howPeter felt after denying Jesus. I want to invest what was intrusted to me wisely. I want to hear the words well done my good and faithful servant.
Well enough rambling. I need prayer. I have alot on my mind as you can probably tell.

Brother, you said a mouth full. Your right, too many of us are very happy with our ownlittle worlds we dare not get involved in tryingtotell others about Christ, or to show others how He loves them, not only withwords, butthrough action!
Keep up the good work, we need more officers out there like you. Thanks for serving.
Ray ,
We are thrilled to have ya here. Thanks for opening up your heart to us. It's nice to see Christian police officers. My son just graduated the Military Police School. Being an officer you have tons of opportunities right on the job. I'm a teacher and take advantage of the many parents and students I come in contact with. I have to be very crafty but I find "Love never fails." It opens doors. Folks hate religious talk but love gets their attention. .."And by this they will KNOW ye are my disciples."

Ray, I've been a deputy with the Sheriff's dept in my county for the last 22+ years, so I'm well aware of what you're talking about.
During that time, I have had numerous opportunities to witness with inmates and other arrestees and I've been successful with leading several to Christ. The opportunities to witness to 10-95's are definitely far less today than they used to be, but you may have other ways to witness.
To keep you stoked, consider joining a Christian Police Officer's group. Quite a few years ago I joined the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers--a international organization with many chapters all over the U.S. and abroad. We meet once a month for breakfast, plus several other planned events each year. There should be one in your area -- do a search. That's just for the encouragement aspect.
As for witnessing, you WILL have limited opportunities to witness with detainees. Many of us have discussed this at our meetings. Then there's the other men and women you work with--they need Christ too. I started a Bible study on my shift and we got a reputation for a bunch of "Bible thumpers." We were given a hard time about it and teased, but some others came up to us and said that they were convicted by what they saw us doing. Another way of witnessing is to find out who the chaplains are at the Detention Center. Try to meet some of them and see where they stand concerning Christ. Once you know who's squared away, tell the 10-95 you're concerned about WHO to contact inside the facility. Have them write it down. You'll know they're getting good advice from someone who knows the truth.
Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if I can be of any help.

I used to be a Prison Chaplain for a few years, and some of those people can be regenerated ,but only by the power of God.
We have one pastor who was a big time drug dealer, another one was a gang leader, a prostitute who works with homeless and drug addicts, their lifes totally turned around by the power of God.
You might want to speak to the Chaplain in your prison about this feller, God bless you for what you do.
Shalom

I love this quote off of one of the old Jesus movies. When the Parisees were discussing Jesus one of them spoke out saying,"You know he's false..look at who he keeps company with , whores, drunks and thieves." which were most of us.

Ray, I am retired from the Sheriffs Dept. and was in and out of their cells every day, I was a Vault, Safe and Prison Door and Lock technician. I wittnessed to them every day. We have 3 jails here in Tampa with 7,000 inmates. One out of 50 might be sincere in their commitment to the Lord.
There is a saying in prison, "Fake it, till you make it."
