Default You Might Be Surprised

Now this is interesting. My Mother told me never to talk about religion or politics in mixed company...good advise. But along about college time I got into theology....something else very interesting. In the past few years I've become to be a noted outdoor writer, at least in Louisiana, where people will buy a copy of a magazine or a newspaper, just to see what Uncle John will say next. They dont have to agree with me, but they just have to know.

In the study I found that its not the good lesson but those who use it for there own advancement that seems to get a little under my skin. Being Thereology to promote Thereocracy.[>:]...seems like only one fellow ever walked on water, I like that. What I don't like is those that use it as a guilt trip, a con for the ignorant, promote a political ajenda and a weapon. I think when the book of life is opened and heaven fills up....you might be surprised at all the people that made it reguardless of your personal opinions....This is one thing I'm truely looking foward to seeing.

Everbody would like to think that God is on their side. Personally I'm on God's side. I'm not too particular on who's god it is either, as long as its not evil. Seems like there are quite a few flaws in some of the interpretations. They all want love and peace.....So they cut off trucker's heads on TV in the name of Alla, burn people at the stake in witch hunts, burn crosses in the name of racial purity....and state some politician needs killing because he doesn't agree with them. Hmmmm, I realy wonder if Jesus, Budda, and Mohamed really had all that in mind.

Well while all you ponder over what I just said so you can find a way to promote your own glory[>:], with some impacting one liner designed to dress me down, ([:@]I know you cant wait)i'll just sit on my ridge all by myself enjoying Gods creation, secure in the fact that there is a greater power out there. I'm going to go join it soon enough, but I wont be surprised on who else is there. Pass it on.

Hi John!

I guess if that's your philosophy, you're entitled to it. I would differ just a bit, but I would like to address something that cries out to me as I read your post. What happened? I gather from your tone, you have had bad run ins with some "religious" people in the past. Nobody here will dress you down for what you've written. Most will agree with a lot of what you have to say, and welcome your input in the future.

Hope you stick around and give us a chance.

In Him,

GH

Actully nothing really happened to me, Im just very observant to the big picture. My back ground is simple, raised a Christian (in the South), brought up in the martial arts by a Buddist, a Jew, and a Cherokee Medicine Man, and had some wonderfulteachings by a Moslem Turkish Godfather. I'm well world traveled and of course I've seen just about everything first hand that most only read about. Therefore I dont buy into all of anything.

But then on the other hand I dont ask people how they are in the morning...I already know.

I guess I misunderstood. Sorry. Why the negative tone though? Maybe I'm wrong, but it's been my experience that if the first time you meet someone, you allow some preconcieved notion about their tendancies to color your conversation, you usually find just what you expected to find.
It's kinda like a false prejudice that will hinder making friends.

I assumed ( bad on my part, I'm sorry) that you had made up your mind as you posted, that your post would be taken as in insult ( which it's not) and that you would be reprimanded for it. What made you think that?
That line of thinking leads me to a thought you might have run into some folks who don't really represent what most people believe about God.

Since you haven't, I'm glad.

In Him,

GH

It's your roll of the dice. Sounds like you got it all figured out. Nobody here is going to tear you down but nice try. See ya.

Your post has really been bugging me lately. I"™ve read it yesterday and this morning. I want to rebut your statements refuting the fact that Christians use theology to promote their agenda. My friend every one promotes their own agenda depending on the perspectives and beliefs. I too am an out doors man and writer ( Christian Outdoorsmen Fellowship of America ). And write a daily Christian devotional on my website ( Power of Faith Ministries) or www.poweroffaith.us. Sure I promote Christianity as I was called to by my Lord Jesus Christ, all Christians are, it"™s called the great commission. It wasn"™t a suggestion but a verbal command to us "ś Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"ť ( Matt. 28: 19).
Are you telling me that CNN doesn"™t promote their own agenda from a deep seeded beliefs? They report the news from the views of the far left. Could you say it"™s a religious outlook? I think so, as they tend to bash most Christians by categorizing them into "śevangelicals"ť , on the left this is a derogatory assertion, but I consider it an honor when I am called Evangelical.
See in all actuality your promoting your views based on your belief. You don"™t really don"™t appear to be a evangelical, due to the fact that you said: I'm not too particular on who's god it is either, as long as its not evil.

..Your quote: .and state some politician needs killing because he doesn't agree with them. Hmmmm, I realy wonder if Jesus, Budda, and Mohamed really had all that in mind.
Frankly, I don"™t care what Budda, Mohamed had in mind. See you categorized Christians the same as these others sects. Jesus, my friend is the only one that died, and was raised by the power of God. I don"™t think my religion is better, I know it is!
As far as this statement for you:Everbody would like to think that God is on their side. Personally I'm on God's side
My friend He is on ourside. You must read Chapter 14 of the Gospel of John"¦
Most of my brothers on this forum will not answer such a loaded post reeking of dissention as they have enough Holy Spirit inside as not to promote strife. However, you have stirred up my spirit inside and I must respond.
Also with all respect your mom was wrong, you need to discuss religion and politics in mixed company, how else are we going to promote Jesus. And of course discussing politics is a good barometer of ones intellect, if used correctly.
Another word of advise my friend"¦ You being an avid and noted writer should use spell check.. English 101: Correct spelling is so essential.

Logically speaking , yes, you just havn't met a greater power yet, but you are broad enough to assume that the possibility exists.

Welcome to the forum, you'll eventually recieve the attention your seeking here and may even make a friend or two.
