Default Praying with your hat on

1 Corinthians 11:4

4. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head.

Like most Christian men, I always remove myhat (if I'm wearing one) to pray. Based on the above verse, I believe it would be sinful for a man to pray while wearing a hat. However, I often pray when I'm hunting. And when I'm hunting, I always wear a headnet and a cap -- at a minimum. Does God "consider" the circumstances, or am I committing sin?

What do YOU do?

Dave my brother I don't know, IMHO I feel that verse is for prayer in a group worshipping. I am like you, I pray in the stand without removing my headnet or cap, I know there have been times driving, boating, or what ever where the urge or need to pray hits that I have not removed my hat, it certainly was not meant to be disrespectful of God and if he does view it as such I pray he will forgive me.

I'm with you Dave. I get very offended seeing guys gone to church with baseball hats on. And yes..when in my deer stand ,I take mine off when praying. However; I also feel convicted to strive to always face the east when praying...
Strive I say ,because sometimes my stand isn't always facing the east.

I'm usually wearing a cap nowadays, since my hair started deserting me. Anytime, I know I'm fixing to pray I remove it. But as I go thru the day I am continually talking to God, whether with voice or thought and my hat is not thought of. The same when on a deer stand, unless I have intent of praying I don't take it off but while sitting there my mind goes off into meditation and I find myself in prayer and no thought of my hat is given.

In this chapter Paul is giving the order of authority..if you look at verse 3 you will see,as you all know, "the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man and the head of Christ is God." I believe it is inappropriate for a mna to have his head covered in publc worship of God..it might seem to say there is another authority between the man and Christ..it is also wrong for the women to pray with their haead uncovered for the same reason the opposite is wrong for the man..the covering is a symbol indicating the authority over her, yet still under Christ..Does that make sense to you?
Paul makes it clear here that he was talking about worshiping or praying in public..i see nothing wrong with praying in your tree stand with your hat on..after all God looks at the heart not your head. nowthat ismy humble opinion..

Bro. Dave, we always remove our head cover when going into the church sanctuary, the pastor will definitely make you remove it. We at home always ask everyone to remove their cover and turn the TV off, before we say grace.
I know all the women in my family that are Catholic, cover their heads before they go in the church, but not the ones who are Independent Baptist. I will remove my cover before I enter any friends home, just in respect to them. Why wouldn't we do it for the Lord?

Bro. Rebel when it comes to hats I was raised the same way, men do not wear hat indoors, it is a form of disrespect. Now I will be honest and say I do not know why it is disrespectful to wear a hat in some ones home, but I don't do it.
