Default Only prayer heard

We had a visitor speaking last night ,He mentioned in his lesson about prayer, and said by the way the only prayer heard by God of an unsaved person is the sinners prayer . He didn't mention any scripture to support this. I have not heard of this before. And I didn't have a chance to speak to him after the service about this. What are your thoughts ?
Thank you for your imput

Sinners prayer? Just talk to Him.

"Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be."

A Sinner's Prayer that was heard..

13And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Fine responses gentlemen but you didn't answer his question. Is the only prayer god hears from an unsaved person the sinners prayer? In other words someone wanting to be saved. I'm courious myself.

Of course He does!

Rev.3:20
[20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

The Question I'm asking , is lets say an unsaved person comes upon a hardship in his/ her life and asks God to help them through the hardship, and not asking for forgiveness of sins . Does God hear these prayers ?

No! Why should He. They are not His children. God wants them to come to Him first.. Seek Ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matt. 6:33

God is not in the business of bailing people out of their jams and them being forgotten.. Remember God is a jealous God.. He wants to be number one in your life.

Oh, God will hear them, but you are saying "And Not Asking For Forgiveness Of Sins". That means you don't want to accept Him and want His help if you come upon a hardship? That to me would beBlasphemy of theHoly Spirit. Which is a non-pardonable Sin! He hears you, but I doubt He will answer your prayers.

There's some deeper subjects that this question raises, but this probably isn't the time to bring them up.

The simple fact is, nowhere in scripture will you find mention of the "sinner's prayer". I've looked and I can't find it. The question you want to know about is a prayer offered in desperation, by a person who isnot a christian. Can God hear him? I say YES! My bible tells me that God is omniscient, or all-knowing.
1 John 3:20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
From the old testament...Isaiah 59:1

1 Behold, the LORD"™s hand is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear.

Jesus,displayed this ability Himself.
Matthew 9:4
4Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?

So to say God cannot hear a sinner's prayer is selling God's power kinda short. So, God can hear a sinner's prayer, the question becomes what will He do when he hears it? John 9:31
31 Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.

We have established that God can hear sinners, but this verse seems to indicate that he is not inclined to act upon the requests of sinners. Does this mean he will not? We can't limit God in that fashion.
I don't ever want to encourage anyone to think prayer is futile, but for people who haven't obeyed the Gospel, while it might not hurt, it certainly is far from the assurance a child of God has, of always being heard.

Why?

The child of God enjoys the friendship of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Romans 8:34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Prayer is a comfort and privilege for christians. We have a benefit that non-christians don't enjoy, namely the Spirit and Jesus. The assurance of a direct conduit to God ( prayer) is one of the best things to point out to folks who are searching for help in their lives.

Sorry Chris...YES !! God answers sinners prayers. Think of how many times when we were in the world and pleaded for God to help us ..AND HE DID..
I remember looking at a huge pillar sitting in the middle of the front seat of a Valiant going around 45 MPH. I was between two boys stoned OUT OF OUR GORD. The Chesapeake Bay was on the other side of the pillar and the driver thought he was driving through a cloud. AS we were going straight toward the pillar that holds up the Chesapeake City bridge..I SCREAMED OUT
GOD PLEASE HELP ME! and like always ..He did. He spared my life.I didn't become a Christian until 2 years later.
