Default fighting tempation

I have and always have for along a time fighting this tempation of lust. I see a woman that is wearing really low cut shorts, low cut shirts, etc. I get lustful thoughts. I cant getaway from this. Because basically everying woman around me wears those types of clothing. Its not so much girls I know but girls walking down the steet or at the store.

Deerhunter, I often have lustful thoughts about my own wife. The very picture of the Holy Church that God gives to me, I pollute with my fleshful lusts. What can save me from such wickedness????

---------

15For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

I hear what you're saying. It is hard to see some of these women and not think, "man what a fine mama jamma." We are after all male and God did make us with a strong sexual desire...but he didn't give it to us so we could sin.

You should read 1 Corinthians 10:13.

Also, the Apostle Paul had a few encouraging things to say about temptation:

-Wrong desires and temptations happen to everyone, so don't feel singled out.
-Others before you have resisted the temptation you are facing and so can you.
-Any temptation can be resisted because God can help you resist it.

God can help you resist temptation by helping you:

-recognize the people and situations that give you trouble
-run from things you know are wrong
-choose to do only what is right
-know to pray for him for help and because with the help of the Holy Spirit we can overcome temptation
-seek friends who love God and can offer help when you are tempted or facing temptation.

James 1:12-16 12Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
13Let no one say when he is tempted, I am being tempted by God, for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. 16Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.

Man this topic has my name allover it!!! I can't help it, I know I do it, and my wife frequently catches me doing it (wandering eyes). I mean sometimes I loose track of whatever it is that I am doing and have to take a minute or two and regroup. I will be 35 in July so I actually look forward too the day that I no longer feel such a need to look (of course both my grandfathers say/said "Hey I aint orderin from the menu, just lookin over the offerins").

But what made me respond too this post was about someone saying they feel bad for lusting over their wife. What is wrong with that? I can't for any possible reason see how that could be bad, is that not part of why God gives our wives too us? My wife is still a tall, attractive and shapely blonde and we have been married for 13 years (next month), but she dresses "right" or prances through the bedroom with only a towel wrapped around her wethair and I have to let her know that she still stokes my fires! Now someone is gonna tell me that is wrong?

If so then I simply give up...

Red, it is indeed possible to defile what God gives us. Remember, your wife is a picture of the Church, and you are a picture of Jesus Christ. Remember also that satan creates nothing, but rather he counterfiets what is established.

In otherwords, satan , through your flesh, can take the physical union between you and your wife, and cheapen it into a filthy display of fleshful pervertion.

mg I can see what your saying if you mean that if someone convinces their wife to "whore up" and run around half naked and act like a loose woman, I can see where that isn't right. But I thought the topic was lustful thoughts? If so then that means it is in your mind and concerns you and your wife, THAT is where I can't see how it could be harmful.
