I got finals coming up at school starting Friday. I got them Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Lots of studying and long nights ahead over the next few days. Remember me in your prayers. Specifically that I'll be alert mentally, rested up, able to recall what I've learned/studied, and that I'll go out with a bang in finishing my first year Bible college.
Also, I'm going home to Arkansas Friday...Lord keep your hedge of protection over me. Amen.

Will do. Mine are week after next. Sadly, I'll confess to "skating-by" again this semester. Not failing or anything like that, but have not shown my potential at all. Regardless, even I get my butt into gear when finals roll around.
Alertness, productive study time, and recall...and calm nerves (the #1 assest come test time in my experience) Will be sent your way!
BTW: I could look this up I guess, but what do you need to get into a Bible College/Seminary? Any bachelors degree? And what % of people do you think go to Bible Colleges, as a whole, who don't feel called to the minisitry?
You can use that Facebook phenomenon if you don't want to set the thread off course.

Soilarch; My advice would be to get the best education possible. If God should call you into a ministry, he will give you what you need. As a minister, I feel that Bible schools are doing much harm to the church. Teaching carnal programs while the church is spiritual. Replacing God's will with man's wisdom. Turning God's soul winning body into a business where monitary profits are the primary goal. That which was intended for the poor, is now going into the pockets of the wealthy. Just MO

Snooky, I feel much the same way...but also believe there is some good in getting a organized education in that area of study. (The bible part) I do not feel called to the "ministry"...but have often thought about it/ and or getting some type of seminary-like education. I will never enter into a paid ministry position unless felt called. (I feel very strongly about people who do otherwise.) I think alot of the problems mentioned above are much the result of men "called" by men, rather than God.

2.Support from the mother church
a. For missons
b. If your church is struggling in finances
c. Counseling availabe for pastors

I'm going to Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. I'm majoring in Youth Ministry/Bible.

To get into Bible College you need no other formal education. You do have to have taken the ACT, graduated from high school, or have your GED. I went to a public college back at home on scholarship and did all of my basic education requirements and I think that's the way to go. It's so much more to go to Bible school. It's a private college so it's that much more expensive.
My particular school I feel like there's very few people who go who aren't actually called into the ministry. CBC is a little bit different. We're specifically set up to help train ministers and missionaries. If you don't feel called into the ministry, we (me and the staff) will ask that you don't come to school there. We're also really small. Around 800 people go to school I think. One guy who goes to school with me went to another Bible school last year and said it was more damaging to his faith than anything he's ever done. But, me and him both feel like we're in the right place, right now, and learning/drawing closer to God everyday, not only through knowledge, but through application of the Word in our lives, and in our relationship to Jesus.
That being said, I know that some people who go aren't called or don't take the call seriously. A guy I know who's been up here this year, didn't go to hardly any of his classes or chapels. Where's the seriousness in that? Where's the responsibility? Where's the "godly example" of someone who's going to be in the ministry who never does anything he's responsible for?
Needless to say, he probably won't be back next semester.
There are other "Bible schools" where you can go and get a secular degree. CBC is more like a "pre-seminary" type school. Everyone there leaves and goes into ministry, whether it be missions or pastoral or evangelism. Evangel for instance (right down the street) you can go get a degree in ministry, or one in accounting, or engineering, or whatever you want. The aura and atmosphere is quite different than that of my school. Many people who go there leave and are the laypeople of the church, which we need very badly to have laypeople, with understanding of God's Word.
