Wanted to give the member's here that read the heads up on this old guy. Only two books I know of are A Pilgrim's Progress and The Holy War. I'm reading his The Holy War right now and its pretty good. Here's the interesting part about his stuff: The entire novel is an allegory about the God-man relationship. In both of the books he give the character's names, like the Prince Emmanual, King Shaddai, Mr. Conviction, Lord Unbelief and so on. The towns is named Mansoul. As you can see he makes if very easy to connect the characters and their names to the rest of the allegory. Good book so far and if you google him you'll find he was a very solid christian. I've read the first few chapters of Pilgrim's Progress and he uses the same style of allegory there as well.
I've seen both books in "modern english" and the original Bunyan-ese English. I'm reading the Holy War in modern english and it's still great but I've read parts of the Pilgrim Progress in both forms...the man's original text is a work of art in every sentence. Definately recommend those versions if you like the older englishes and can find them.
Oh well, if you're interested check 'em out. You can get the paperbacks pretty cheap and its another form of learning about God's Character*
*NO, I do not regard this man's novels as scripture at all, please don't read that into the message. He was a preacher and, from his writings, a well versed and knowledgeable christian. But please don't think I'm confused.

I love Pilgrim's Progress! I have read it in both English and Spanish and have the copy of the old version in hardback. I had no idea Paul Bunyan had another book written in the same style. I'll have to look it up!

Yeah the same here Liz. One of the best books I've ever read as well. I believe my wife read another one where Christian's wife gets saved. I'm not a reader but I loved that book.
