It's not obtained legally. The bible says to follow the laws of the land...so I'm thinking yes. Do realize, that by that standard going 67 mph on a Interstate is also sin. (That's not to say smoking weed is ok or a 'necassary evil' NOT AT ALL...but hopefully it will keep people from busting your chops about asking the question in the first place.)

...as one whos' faced this problem, all I'll say is: it's between you and God. as far as the legality of it... we all know the answer. as for breaking laws daily, everyone does(including Christians), and mostlyintentional(speeding-other driving violations, stealing( when we take long lunches,etc). and many other way... but we "accept" those times of Outlawness....................yeah...right.. anyway,
as for the HABIT that pot keeps you in... that's against His rules for your Spirit.... nothing controls you, but the Spirit.
same applies for alcohol..tobacco...tv... video games...hunting(ouch)....ANY thing that has a grip on you or youe Spirit.

It is absolutely a sin. Consider what the Bible says about addictions...

Galatians 5:21envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 5:18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
Instead of being "high" on pot, the Bible says to be "high" on the Spirit!

1 Corinthians 6:12"All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be enslaved by anything.
1 Peter 5:8Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Proverbs 20:1Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
Proverbs 23:20Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat,

The fact is that being addicted to drugs and being in the company of those who are addicted to them is a very dangerous place to be. Go find a Christian Student Center, a good group of folks that don't do that! Substance abuse, whether the substance is wine or crack, whisky or smack - is contrary to scriptural principles.

I did a paper in college.
Pot ...
1. Leads to harder drugs.
2. The tar is 10 times more than tobacco
3. Is a type of sorcery {Opening your minds to seducing spirits}
4. Is illegal
5. Can cause one to make choices they will regret
6. Causes extreme apathy { Poor parenting}
7. Cause lung cancer

Canabis is a habit forming substance and will eventually cause damage to your brain and lungs.
Anything that harms the body is a sin for it is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Now A none christian might not be under those rules but, can he make a judgement to salvation ?

I am not addicted to weed. Just smoked it this weekend havent smoked for almost a year. I am sure you all have been stoned its a great feeling. I drink and smoke to get away from the stresses of school. Once summer rolls around. My drinking goes way down.In my eyes weed is okay to a point. Like alcohol if it takes over your life its a problem. If you can control it you are good. I may be wrong. Weed I can stop any time just like the feeling way to much. Alcohol may be on the road to danger. There is just a few weeks left of school. Like I said once summer is in drinking goes way down. My job I have is pretty stress free plus I get a natural high. Once I graduate that may be a different story.Which is a few years away. I want to do whats right, but school will cause you to drink alot and even smoke a bit of the weed. This all got much worse once I moved away from home. I am moving back home after this semester and going to a college closer to home. If werent for alcohol I would be crazy person. In some medical place. It helps me out from time to time.

Buddy let me encourage you to change your mind about the occasional smoke. I, as well as many on this board knows that when we say "we have control over our XXXXXX use" it is just a lie. We may in fact be in control for a while, but eventually it will get you. I've learned this the hard way with chewing tobacco...and you can't get jail time for tobacco. For the better part of a year I was "in control" so to speak. Next thing I knew I woke up one day and was like..."Oh man, I'm addicted." So I said "that's it, I'm stopping". I tried. It had me. Took me several attempts but I eventually went 5 weeks without a dip...or the desire for one. THEN I WENT BACK!!!! These innocent chemical addictions aren't innocent at all. Please stop and take a longer look at this.

Also Fred...Keep the following clause in mind when sharing alot of personal information on this forum. This is found at the bottom of the rules.

We at HuntingNet.com also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.

Be careful my friend and get off the garbage. Pray daily in sincerity and Christ Jesus WILL SET YOU FREE. "Ask and it shall be given unto you."
Chuck7
PS Also Fred, The scriptures tell us to forget the past. I am certainly not proud of my past and do not miss any of the garbage at all. Nothing can compare to the peace , joy, guidance ,love , encouragement and friendship we get from Christ. The other stuff is very shallow and dangerous.
