Default Opinion Question

Is it ok for your average layman to serve communion to his holdhold?

Did you mean average guy to serve communion to his household?

Maybe someone can support this with scripture but I thought communion was just a manmade thing to remember what Jesus done for us? I would like to know.

Big Country...it's not a man made thing. We see references of it in the early church in the book of Acts. I take communion really serious. Although I go to church my wife doesn't. Sometimes I'll play songs , read scriptures and serve communion in my little olive wood cups I got from Israel.at my home. I did today.I was just wondered what other's thought. C7

In the Jewish Home the head of The family leads in The passover Seder.
So anyone who is incharge of the home can do this.

Thanks Alex,

I also want to apologize for getting upset at you the other day.I'm not even going to back up to see what it was all about. I just know my main goal is to walk in His peace and love and I blew it. Please forgive me. This walking in love stuff is very tough for me but I'm not giving up.
Love Chuck7

Every Christian is his own Priest. The work of Jesus on the Cross made this possible.

In giving His instructions at the Lord"s Supper, did Jesus really envision a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly ceremony with taste-free wafers and trays of shot glasses? I don"t think so. I assert that he was encouraging his followers to remember him whenever they ate or drank. In that culture, bread and wine were two primary staples, and thus he chose them as the food and drink. For the record, it is certainly not a sin to participate in a "communion" ceremony. In fact, it can be very meaningful, but let"s think about how practical it is to remember the Lord (and what he did, is doing, and will do for us) every time we eat or drink.

Reb

The reason the bread is a tasteless wafer, is because according to the old law, the Jews used unleavened bread to commemorate the passover. I have no problem with remembering Christ and his sacrifice any time, but the Lord's Supper, to me at least, is an act of worship that the apostles practiced on the first day of the week.

As far as who can offer it....I agree with Mqman. All christians are their own preists. We need noone else to make offering for us, just as we need no "clergyman" to pass the communion.

I agree... hoever, there are alot of Pastors whod' disagree... they'll tell you that's why THEY were called. Again, I agree with you.
Pastors.. in my opinion(according to what I read that a shepherds' SUPPOSED to do), are failing His church. the spritual condition of ANY "church" is the sole responsibility of it's shepherd, and DIRECTLY reflects that pastors OWN spiritual condition..( a generalization to taken as such).
I'm betting yesterday, more new suits/ladies dresses/ kids' outfits were displayed, than souls converted/restored..... any takers on this bet?
