Judas been thinking along time

With the finding of what people are calling the gospel of Judas does this change the hole thing??? Year ago I had a teacher ask the same ? did Judas do it for silver or did Jesus ask him to do it. this gospel was dated to 1800 years ago. A lot of thing have been found like the revalation of mary great reading or the revaltion of peter witch is very good reading but I do understand why the one of peter was not added to the Bible if you have not read it please do so. what do you think

I assume you watched that special on the Gospel of Judas? Was it interesting? Do you have a link to it?

No I dont it was on the news this morning and they show the old papers. I will try to find a link for you. but here one for you if Jesus did ask Judas to do this he did furfilled what had to happen how Judas must have felt to know because of him Jesus would die could this be the reason that he hung himself and not the silver????????

Renfrow simply my opinion, but whether Christ asked Judas to turn him in or Judas sold him out for silver, I feel he may have hung himself either way. The fact that you gave up the Son of God, Jesus the Christ to those who wished him dead, would weigh heavily on anyone.

I am staying away from these other gospels. I saw that news too. These folks who "probably" wrote these things were no where near Jesus or the time of Jesus. So unless they were prophets, I can only assume they are false documents. I would rather take the belief of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John who lived in that period.

Unless they can find some proof that it was wrote within 30-50 years of Jesus's death, and by his hand or one of the diciples. I just don't know how the Gnostics got thier info.

If you look at the revalation of mary and revalation of peter they were wrighten about the same time as the ones you mention? so why were they not in the Bible stop looking when the Bible was put together the preast did not want them in. If you get the chance to read them please do so they are a true blessing also. these two walk with Jesus should they not be in the Bible?? I have edit this to add the book of Jubilee's these are 3 books that should be added to the Bible, if you can find a english version please pick it up and read them you will find that they comfirm the Bible. Big don't close the door for there is much to learn and if you have not read them how can you judge them as being wrong?? love you brother, Chuck

Something that came to mind while reading this thread:

Don't some/many translations use the term "betrayed"? I've if you asked someone to do something...how can their compliance be considered betrayal? dunno, maybe that word "betrayed" is just part of the bible school jargon we've all become accustomed to.

Who wrote the revelation of mary? If its accepted that she did indeed write, I might take a peak. But until I have mastered the Holy Bible in the canon that is put together, I wouldn't take a chance at it.

There is just too much for me know now without taking a look at books the Churches early fathers decided should not be in the Bible.

But back to the original post, why should we take serious the books by the Gnostics? Where did they get thier authority?

I did not say take it serious I have not read the gospel of Judas so I can not make a judgement on it but you can bet I will. as to mary yes it is accepted that she wrote it in most college and univ. around the world. but most ? why would God talk to a woman if you look at hebrew history a woman does not rank very high up the pole so they always ask why would God waste his time talking to a woman. God can use whoever he wants a dog a woman a man a bird. so if you can find the book of mary please read it If I can find mine I will send it to you to read if you want.

I appreciate that ren but I got my hands full for the next few decades with the Holy Bible alone. Thanks however. Maybe you can give us the ins and outs of the book. What does it concentrate on? Any new directions it gives that are not listed in the canon now?
