Default Trophy hunting a sin?

I am 80% meat hunter, and 20% trophy hunter. Someone brought it to my attention, how a hardcore Christian like myself could be a trophy hunter? I thought about it a bit. I guess it all boils down to, does it take the place of God in anyway. I guess anything can be a idol. Just thinking outloud.

Just take the lord along with ya. Tree time is alot of prayer time. But I see your point for sure.

That is between you and the Lord brother. One of those personal convictions. I've been out trophy hunting today. We don't have the same kind of trophys though that you are hunting for.I wish we did. I was looking for a hawg but to no advail. A bass hawg. I'm like you on the hunting except mine is 100% meat. Presently I'm very fortunate to get one shot a year. NOw bass. that's a different story. I live amongst bass up to 15 pounds so for them I am a trophy hunter. Talking about fishin. Man I just made the best crappies ever tonight. I keep those but I'm strictly catch and release on the bass. Enjoy God's creation brother and be ye thankful.

I hunt does for meat and keep my arrows on the string when most bucks walk by. I want a stinkin' big buck with outrageous antlers for my broadheads. I don't see anything sinful about that.

I don't see anything sinful about it- like you said as long as it doesn't replace God. The way I see it- God put the desire to hunt in our hearts, you're just being picky what you're shootin' at while you're hunting!

Let me ask this then. If you got a big 140 class buck, would you mount it?

Easy WV, were just having conversation. Somebody said something to me, and made me think about it. Its what some of us do in here. I am very open minded to alot of folks on this page.

Some folks are not so open minded and just like to tell people instead of listen. Maybe it was something, maybe nothing.

It got my attention when he said that. Anything can be an idol. The internet, Television, woman, career, can be your golden calf. I used to always think I was safe from this sin. I now know better. It may be one of the most prevalent sins.

BC, I think it's good to ask ourselves why we do things and question whether or not what we do is pleasing to God. For me saving a bucks rack or having a nice one mounted is all about memories . . .plus the fact that it just looks good on the wall. I'm not one of those that gets a trophy every yr and when I do I am grateful for the experiance.
I have questioned how much these things mean to me tho and I've come to the conclusion that their way down the ladder of my priorities.
