But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. Luke 22:21-27 KJV
As I was reading this portion of Scripture as Jesus is on that path that will lead Him to the cross, we see men doing what they do best: not understanding and also the fickleness of men and their concerns. In one verse, they are all upset about which one of them was going to betray Him and in the next moment they are arguing among themselves as to who would be the greatest. Like you and I have never ever done anything like that. Unfortunately each of probably have memories which they would love to forget an wish that they had never happened, but they did. Now it really boils down to what are we going to do with the failure? Learn or say that it was someone"™s else fault or problem. For these men who walked with Jesus, they had failures, but I truly believe they learned from them and become more like Jesus as they walked the path He had for them. According o tradition, only John, did not die a horrible death. Not one turned from the path that He had called them to. So, yes, we each will have problems that will be obvious for all to see, but the real difference will be how we allow the Spirit of God to work it out in and through us. May we find our strength in Him and may we learn to get along with one another altough we sometimes disagree.. Have a great weekend serving Him and please, Tell someone about Jesus..God Bless

"Religion" may be, but I'm not a "religious" man. "Religion" is full of doctrines and traditions and man-made idols.
Faith in God is not religion. I am a man of Faith.

Now that is the funniest thing I have EVER read here. I guess then you just make up your own "Rules of your Faith", as you go along!! Now that is just too funny....That is why it is easy to be a christian, you guys just make it up as you go!!

Actually...man didnt make the rules, God did. I think cam is alluding to is the fact that we have a couple thousand years worth of man made tradition and doctrine out there. Personally, I have no time for doctrines made by men.

No I think Jesse Ventrua said it best.
"Religion is for weak minded people."
Considering what a moral degenerate Jesse Ventura is, I would suggest picking a better hero.
Truth- Aught Six explained it well. I'm talking about the man-made traditions and doctrines. That iswhat I consider to be "religion". As Aught said- I have no time for doctrines made by men either.
Faith is a whole different thing than religion. But not being a man of Faith, I wouldn't expect for you to be able to see the difference. I have been in your shoes, and could not recognize the difference. I really wish you could, though- it's amazing.
Hereis a passage about "Religion":
"And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? ... You hypocrites! ...These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men." Matthew 15:3-9
Jesus was saying the people who claim to worship God but follow the rules andteachings of men are hypocrites. Therefore, I try as hard as I can to follow the teaching of Jesus, not men.
Truth, when I wasn't a Christian I felt the same way you do. I thought that anyone who was a Christian was "religious". That is not true. Men teach religion, God teaches Faith.

Truth-
As some on here have said, it's hard for you to understand. The reason is, although you aren't aware of it, you are walking in darkness. When you come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, you come into the light. And trust me, it is real, and when you realize that, you will wonder how you could've ever been in unbelief. There is another whole realm of reality. Question is, do you want to step into it and see for yourself?

Another infamous hit and run post. Why don't you 'enlighten' us with your answers to life's intricacies. What do you consider to be the basis for what you say you believe? How do you define 'truth', truthbetold? Whatis,or how do you even have a concept of 'truth', or 'false' for that matter? Both imply that there is a standard to compare and to base their existence on. How about 'right' or 'wrong'? I am looking for something a little more substantial than moral relativism--way too subjective. It has to be an objective truth to even remotely resemble even the most liberal definition for 'truth'.And if it isn't based on some standard, the you don't have anything better than opinion--and since there are 6.5 billion people on the planet, maybe the fact that thisleaves the door open for 6.5 billion different subjective viewpoints, then, maybe there has to be something a bit more reliable than our being left on our own to decide for ourselves?
