Snooky ,
I really don't see how the Assembly of God folks are trinity..their statement seems oneness .Let's look at it closely.
This is the Assembly of God view.
One True God
There is one true God. He has revealed Himself as having always existed without any outside cause or agent bringing Him into being (Isaiah 43:10). He is the Creator of the universe (Genesis 1:1) and the One who redeems, saves, or rescues mankind from sin and its painful consequences (Isaiah 43:11). God has further revealed Himself as a single Being (Deuteronomy 6:4) consisting of three interrelated persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22).I believe you agreed up to this part.Correct me if I'm wrong. This concept of one God or Being of three persons is called the Trinity. To me they are calling the above statement trinity. {The part you are agreeing with.}They are not changing the above statement. at all..Correct me if I'm wrong.

Chuck, this is the way I understand it and I am IB,
The three Persons appear in a logical, causal order. The Father is the unseen, omnipresent Source of all being, revealed in and by the Son, experienced in and by the Holy Spirit. The Son proceeds from the Father, and the Spirit from the Son. With reference to God's creation, the Father is the Thought behind it, the Son is the Word calling it forth, and the Spirit is the Deed making it a reality.

My question was although the AG folks call that statement trinity it sure looks ONENESS to me.
Maybe some of us are oneness and don't even realize it.LOL

Chuck, do you believe that God manifested Him self in the Incarnation and then in the Holy Ghost?

John 1:14
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
[4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
[6] There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[7] The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
[8] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
[9] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
[10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
[11] He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
[12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
[13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
[14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Reb...to be honest which ya..I don't understand it that good. I probably to be honest with ya agree mostly with Motor the good ole Independent Baptist way.
Yes Chuck I'm also independent Baptist, but you have to study Hebrew and Greek to fully understand the translations from the original manuscripts.
The Original Greek Word Monogenes
The phrase "only begotten" in the above-mentioned verses, in the original Greek language, is monogenes (pronounced hard g as in go; Strong #3439)"¦
[ul][*]Combination of two words: "monos" which means "only" or "alone," and "genos" which means "of the same nature, kind, sort, species" (Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the NT)
[*]A better translation might be "only one of its kind" or "only unique" or just "only," but not "begotten."
[*]Jesus Christ, the Son of God is a unique and one-of-a-kind being.
[*]Hugo McCord defines it as "a lone being, a unique existence, the only one of its kind, that which has no duplicate" (Gospel Advocate, 3/20/86)
[*]It's interesting to note that the 2nd century Old Latin version translated all nine NT occurrences of monogenes as UNICUS, which means "unique."
[/ul]
The word (actually inspired) has nothing to do with origin, as does typically the word "begotten." Rather the intent is to affirm that Jesus Christ is the unique, only one of His kind, Son of God.

Chuck; The first half of that statement of faith is exactly as I believe. The second half is where I differ with them. God has futher revealed himself as a single being concisting of three interrelated beings, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The concept of one God, or Being of three persons is called the Trinity. The second part of the statement is where the trinity is shown, the farther revelation. They added the farther revelation to the statement of faith to seperate themselves from the Oneness.
Amen...I believe it is really very trivial Reb. The main thing is that you are saved by grace and your sins are forgiven. I call Him Lord. He is my boss , my redeemer, my advocate, my friend. His name is Jesus. There is no other name under Heaven in which man can be saved. He is our counselor our King, our God and the lamb that was slaughtered for our guilt and shame.
I call Him The Son of God ,The Prince of Peace ,The Bread of Life ,The Way the Truth and The Life. He is the beginning and the end. As far as the different conversations I see throughout the New Testament..it is one of those mysteries that I won't understand until we get to the other side. Then we will know for sure. The folks on here have showed me how much I really don't know. One of these daysI 'll go on a long 7 day fast. Then ,I'll ask the Spirit about that. I'm due a long fast anyway. I need a total break through. I'm sick of myself. I make myself sick.
