Whensinging hymns in church I dont sing out loud. Basically because I dont like to hear myself sing. I do try and fallow along sing in my head. Is this wrong that I dont sing out loud?

The Lord knows your heart my friend. Those hymns are great though. There is a lot of good theologhy in some of those hymns. I love to sing.
It's not a sin if you don't sing.
God hears something we as humans can't....our hearts. You may seem to me, to be worshipping in an appropriate fashion, but God knows because he hears your heart.
Ephesians 5:17-19
Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
Collosians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord
The choice is simple:Praise God as He's asked us to do or remain silent so as to not sound foolish in front of others? No choice here to me.
You also can't be teaching or admonishing anyone as the verse from Collosians says unless you're doing it out loud.

What does the Bible say about singing in the church? The verses are these:
[blockquote]What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. (1 Corinthians 14:15)[/blockquote]
[blockquote]And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:18-19)[/blockquote]
[blockquote]Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Colossians 3:16)[/blockquote]
[blockquote]Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. (James 5:13-although this may not refer to singing "in the church" but by oneself)[/blockquote]
[blockquote]And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous [are] thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true [are] thy ways, thou King of saints. (Revelation 15:3-although some say this is in heaven rather than in the church on earth)[/blockquote]

dh there is nothing wrong with singly quietly, but I can tell you right now that when singing a hymn that moves you, you will find yourself and many others singing thier praises louder then they normaly do!
It is funny to me, but I sense the spirit in hymns the strongest when I hear some of the worse voices singing loudly, I guess it is because the Spirit has really touched them in the hymn and thier joy just comes out.

Let's do a couple stanzas of Blessed Assurance right now.
Blessed Assurance
[hr]
Blessèd assurance, Jesus is mine:
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation purchase of God;
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood: Refrain: This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior, all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture burst on my sight;
angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love: Refrain
Perfect submission, all is at rest -
I in my Savior am happy and blest -
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

lol if you think it should be quiet in church you sure would NOT wanna be in my church on Sunday morning. It is a large church, we have 3 morning services. But only the last two are packed (1k+ sanctuary). About 5-7 years ago the music minister got "jiggy with it" and decided to try something new. Now we have a 5 pc band complete with drums, a bass guitar, two pianos, an occasional horn or two and our lead guitar is manned by a legend in his own right Stan Perkins, he is the son of Carl "Blue Suede Shoes" Perkins (known as the Godfather of Rockabilly, writer of Blue Suede Shoes, Honey Don't, Go cat go and other Sun Records founding sounds) and toured with Carl and Johnny Cash on many occasions. (I live in Jackson, TN)
LOL I laugh and tell everyone I belong too the "Southern ROCK Baptists"!!!
