I had my usual Wed. foundations class. It was a good one. I just never really understood the significance of the Blood of the Lamb. I hear my preacher say it alot. But we broke it down in Hebrews. Broke down atonemnent of sins. Went further about Jesus Christ died for our sins "once for all" 1 Peter 3:18. How we could never approach God because we will always have sin on us until Jesus came. How he said "It is finished", when on the cross. I used to just gloss over it. It was excellent.
You know I look back and its been a heck of a year. I just can't believe how far I have grown. Sure the devil has whispered in my ear how bad I am doing. But I prayed to know God's will. And look back I see how he worked in my life. I prayed for understanding of the Good Book. And man, I shocked with myself. I mean I can almost talk intelligent about God to someone. Not quite there and you guys probably look at this and laugh. But it may be small for you guys offaith but its leaps and bounds forme. I realize I didn't do anything, it was all God doing the work.
But guys, I got a small little taste of what can happen if I deny my wants and give in to God. And man it was good. I want more. But its so easy to say you want God's will, but seems so difficult to forget your own selfishness to see it. Almost impossible sometimes.
In the Bible, the soul is said to be in the blood because blood is so intimately involved in the life processes. God"™s Word says: "For the soul of the flesh is in the blood, and I myself have put it upon the altar for you to make atonement for your souls, because it is the blood that makes atonement by the soul in it." (Le 17:11) For like reason, but making the connection even more direct, the Bible says: "The soul of every sort of flesh is its blood." (Le 17:14) Clearly, God"™s Word treats both life and blood as sacred.
.
There was only one use of blood that God ever approved, namely, for sacrifice. He directed that those under the Mosaic Law offer animal sacrifices to make atonement for sin. (Le 17:10, 11) It was also in harmony with His will that His Son, Jesus Christ, offered up his perfect human life as a sacrifice for sins."”Heb 10:5, 10.
The lifesaving application of Christ"™s blood was prefigured in a variety of ways in the Hebrew Scriptures. At the time of the first Passover, in Egypt, the blood on the upper part of the doorway and on the doorposts of the Israelite homes protected the firstborn inside from death at the hand of God"™s angel. (Ex 12:7, 22, 23; 1Co 5:7) The Law covenant, which had a typical sin-removing feature, was validated by the blood of animals. (Ex 24:5-8) The numerous blood sacrifices, particularly those offered on the Day of Atonement, were for typical sin atonement, pointing to the real sin removal by the sacrifice of Christ."”Le 16:11, 15-18.
The legal power that blood has in God"™s sight as accepted by him for atonement purposes was illustrated by the pouring of blood at the base, or foundation, of the altar and the putting of it on the horns of the altar. The atonement arrangement had its basis, or foundation, in blood, and the power (represented by horns) of the sacrificial arrangement rested in blood."”Le 9:9; Heb 9:22; 1Co 1:18.
Scripture tells us that Jesus going to the cross and shedding His blood for us accomplished many different things. Hebrews 9:14 assures us that the blood has the power to cleanse us. Ephesians 1:7 says that the blood brings forgiveness. In Romans 5:9, we read how Christ"™s blood sacrifice justifies us; and in Colossians 1:14 and Hebrews 9:12, God"™s Word declares that we are redeemed by the power of His precious blood. We are brought lasting peace by the blood (Colossians 1:20) and purified through it (1 John 1:7). Christ"™s blood frees us (Revelation 1:5) and with it God has purchased us back unto Himself (Revelation 5:9). The attributes of His blood go on and on.
