Ok, I have been studying the "abomination of desolation" where it should not be. What do you believe we should be looking for? Do you think it will be apparant? Do you think Christians will regonize the antichrist and his image? What temple is the bible referring? In Israel? Only place in teh bible where I see a not for reader to take note.
Question: "What is the abomination of desolation?"
Answer: Matthew 24:15, "So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel - let the reader understand." This Scripture is referring to Daniel 9:27, "He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him." In 167 B.C. a Greek ruler by the name of Antiochus Epiphanies set up an altar to Zeus over the altar of burnt offerings in the Jewish temple in Jerusalem. He also sacrificed an pig on the altar in the Temple in Jerusalem. This event is known as the "abomination of desolation."
Jesus, in Matthew 25:15, was speaking some 200 years after the abomination of desolation had already occurred. So, Jesus must have been prophesying that some time in the future the abomination of desolation would reoccur in a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. Most Bible prophesy interpreters believe that Jesus was referring to the antichrist, who will do something very similar to what Antiochus Epiphanies did. This is confirmed by the fact that some of what Daniel prophesied in Daniel 9:27 did not occur in 167 B.C. with Antiochus Epiphanies. Antiochus did not confirm a covenant with Israel for seven years. It is the antichrist who in the end times will establish a covenant with Israel for seven years and then break it by doing something similar to the abomination of desolation in the Jewish temple in Jerusalem.

Thats the way MacArther explains it also. I guess I never expected the antichrist to be doing anything in a Jewish temple. I kinda figured it would a Christian place.
So the abomination of desolation is not just a one time happening, it was also done by the Romans when a giant statue of Jupiter was placed in the temple, that was also called by my people as the abomination of desolation.
Furthermore today there stands another abomination of desolation right over the sacred place, that we all who lived in Israel must look at daily, we also call it the abomination of desolation.
I guess I never expected the antichrist to be doing anything in a Jewish temple. I kinda figured it would a Christian place.

In reality this is a misconception of most gentile Christians, the antichrist is not a gentile term in reality it is a translation of the anti mashiach or anti messiah, since the Masshiach is Jewish then it is the anti Jewish person, all end time prophecies refer to Israel and Jerusalem and the place where the Jewish Messiah will return to.
All the little titbits that I have being given here on this site has being in order to make you realise, that the Church is not the center of Prophecy but rather it is Israel and the Jewish people, of which you the church are grafted into and not the other way around.
In the Jewish Circles we do not speak of this person as the antichrist but rather as the man of sin as Daniel the prophet called him.
But if we do use the term antimosshiach it is to say he that preceeds the Masshiach and not meaning Jesus as most Jews do not accept Jesus as the Messiah yet.
They all will soon as it is happening and the gospel is now being proclaimed in the Holy Land with great resistance but also great effort on our side.
The sooner you get into your head that the Old testament and the New Testament are Jewish books and written By Jews , the sooner your mind will be opened to the true purpose of the gospel of yeshua Ha Masshiach{Jesus Christ}
And more you will understand who this person will be and whre all this events will take place.
Shalom

And you will see that even by name the abomination of desolation was fulfilled at the times of the Macabees. Alex
This is true..however Mark....MANY Bible scholars believe in something called proliftic prophecy ..in other words where prophecy can happen twice. Example of this would be the statue in Daniel. That statue represented countries back then before Christ..And they came to past. Some still see those 10 toes of that statue involved in end times again as the 10 toes representing the common market. Yes Israel will build another temple and the Anti Christ will set himself up in it just like you said. And ..as Alex said ithas already been defied once before.

This is a term Jesus used to describe the antichrist by Daniel in Matt.24:15--Dan.8:9-12, 9:27, 11:31, 12:11..Daniel said one will arise persecute the Israelites..he also said, this evil man would take away Israel's sacrifices and would put in the temple an abominable thing to desecrateit..Jesus said this is yet to come in the future and will happen during the great tribulation just before His Second Coming to earth..the antichrist will say he is god and will cause men to woprship him..2 Thess. 2:3-4 and Rev.13..
Daniels propphecies will be fulfilled just pror to Jsesus second coming...
