Default The Quran teaches Oneness

In contrast to the biblical portrait of a Trinity, the Quran goes out of its way to denounce the notion of Trinity:
[blockquote]
O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "śThree"ť"”Cease! (it is) better for you!"”Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His transcendant majesty that he should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender. The Messiah will never scorn to be a slave unto Allah, nor will the favoured angels. Whoso scorneth His service and is proud, all such will He assemble unto Him (Surah 4:171-172)

They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah (himself) said: O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Lo! whoso ascribeth partners unto Allah, for him Allah hath forbidden Paradise. His abode is the Fire. For evil"‘doers there will be no helpers. They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the third of three; when there is no God save the One God. If they desist not from so saying a painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve. Will they not rather turn unto Allah and seek forgiveness of Him? For Allah is Forgiving, Merciful (Surah 5:72-74).

That is interesting Goose. I appreciate your searches.
I still remember the picture of you and your buck. I drove through alot of Alabama when I went ot Strut's house. First..I drove across the top part from GA across Birnmingham. Coming back I drove straight down to Dothan to hit the pan handle. I thought it would be a short cutLOL the pan handle is no short cut. I do appreciate your knowledge here Goose of the Word. Some I agree and some I don't but I do appreciate the hard work put into your searches. I'm eatting back strap tomorrow.{ The magor part I don't agree is your study on the book of Revelations.}However; I love your spirit and I can just put that difference on the shelf.
Have a blessed day,
Chuck7

Thanks Chuck, I appreciate you and your posts also, we do disagree some, but you always are able to teach me some thing. I still have your quote on my monitor it says: "When in doubt, stay with love. Love never fails." You are good at pointing out the truth and helping others to act as a Christian should. Thank you for the encouragement!

The devil also believes in one God, but that doesn't mean that there has to be three Gods. Does something have to be a falsehood just because it is written in the Quran as well as the bible?

Thats some pretty interesting apples Goose. I don't know much about those folk, however its not surprising that they are monotheistic as they also decended from Abraham who was monotheistic. I could'nt even begin to guess what their all about , but I don't believe they view Jesus as the Messiah, but as a prophet. If thats the case then theres not much contrast at all.
But since we're in this vein, I have a few oranges that you may find amusing. Did you know that the Babylonians worshiped one God in three persons, and used a triangle as a symbol of this trinity? Also there was another trinity in ancient Egypt, "Ra, Amon, and Ptah" were combined as three parts of one triune deity. Egypt also had another "divine" trinity in Osiris, Isis, and Horus. Trinities exist in other religions too like Hinduism, Taoism, and Buddism. A philosophic trinity appears in Plato . . . .I'm not going to go in depth with this tho because my thoughts on the influence that Greek philosophy had on early theology may seem mean spirited.
Anyway, I enjoyed your post as I have never considered that the Quran would teach monotheism . . .but as I thought on it, I was not surprised.
